Serra Cafema Camp Add-on

Serra Cafema Add-on: In full

Fly north to the extreme north-west of Namibia for three nights at the unique Serra Cafema Camp. Hidden on the banks of the Kunene River, the camp is enhanced by a spectacular desert landscape, and its range of activities make the most of this location.

Serra Cafema is close to the border with Angola, making it one of Namibia's, if not, southern Africa's most remote camps. During your stay you’ll have time to explore by boat, by 4WD, on foot and even by quad bike – and the light-aircraft flights in and out of camp just add to the adventure.

This add-on trip works well as an addition to a circuit of Namibia, whether you are flying or driving yourself around the country. Flights depart from and return to Damaraland, so the trip combines particularly well with time spent there.

Days 1-3

3 nights at Serra Cafema (full board & activities) | Skeleton Coast & Kaokoland, Namibia

Welcome to Serra Cafema. This add-on trip to Serra Cafema Camp starts with a shared light aircraft flight north from Doro Nawas at around midday. Taking about an an hour, the flight is an experience in itself as you travel over the dramatic landscapes of Namibia’s Damaraland and Koakoland regions.

Serra Cafema’s spectacular location on the life-giving Kunene River forms a stark contrast with the seemingly barren sand dunes and rocky hillsides of the surrounding desert. Your three nights here will give you time to enjoy this luxury lodge and the variety of activities it offers. The river provides a base for motorboat trips in search of crocodiles and water birds, while walks and nature drives take place in the remote Hartmann's Valley. You could also try your hand at quadbiking (but it's essential that you read the Quadbike warning in the 'Health & Safety' section for our comments on insurance issues regarding this activity).

Back at camp, you can relax in the comfort of your spacious thatched and canvas chalet, or in the comfortable “ozonganda”: a Herero word for the main area. Or take a cooling dip in the small plunge pool before preparing for dinner.

At the end of your visit, you will be flown back to Doro Nawas to continue your self-drive or fly-in safari.
