Goshawk Fly-in Safari

Discover Namibia’s remarkable landscapes, fascinating wildlife and unique cultures on this luxury adventure flying between a selection of the very best camps and lodges in the country.

Goshawk Fly-in Safari: Summary

Goshawk Fly-in Safari in a nutshell

This is the trip for those that want experience all of Namibia’s highlights in style, taking spectacular light aircraft flights between a selection of opulent lodges and luxurious camps.

After a relaxing first night in the tiny capital, Windhoek, take your first hop east into the epic NamibRand Nature Reserve and a stay at the stunningly situated Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. As well as visiting the famous dunes nearby, venture out into the reserve on foot, vehicle or quad bike, and marvel at the night sky from the lodge’s own observatory.

Flying north, your next stop is Damaraland’s rugged mountains where you can seek out desert adapted elephant and black rhinos on game drives and walks. Further north still, following the Skeleton Coast up to the Angolan border is perhaps Africa’s remotest camp – Serra Cafema. Sat beside the Kunene River in a rare green strip of forest, this is a special place and an oasis of luxury. Explore the starkly breath-taking scenery, spot crocodiles and vibrant birdlife on the water and get a chance to meet the nomadic Himba community in a sensitive manner.

Returning south, spend two nights on the edge of Etosha’s vast salt pan in Ongava Game Reserve, venturing out into both on game drives to spot lion, zebra, giraffe, elephant and more. With luck, you may be able to track Ongava’s rhino on foot. The final stop is the fabulously chic Omaanda. There’s the chance for more safari but we prefer it as a place to rest and restore after the adventure.

Olive Exclusive

Day 1

Overlooking a neighbouring olive grove in the suburb of Klein Windhoek, the officially dubbed Olive Exclusive All-Suite Hotel is more typically known simply as the Olive Exclusive. Only five minutes' drive from the centre of the Namibian capital the hotel boasts just seven individual, luxurious suites, and an equally intimate and contemporary on-site restaurant, The Olive.

Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

Days 2-4

The luxury Sossusvlei Desert Lodge (formerly known as Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge) is located in the NamibRand Nature Reserve, about half-an-hour's drive from Sesriem. Guests benefit from unspoilt views across the desert from large modern suites, and can participate in a range of activities.

Damaraland Camp

Days 4-6

Nestled in the Huab River valley, and surrounded by low hills, Damaraland Camp was one of the earliest camps in this area of Namibia, having opened around 1996. Although it has undergone a number of renovations since then, with the chalets almost doubled in size, it retains its strong community feel, and is now part owned by the local people. The camp's secluded location makes it a great base from which to explore the many attractions of this stark but richly diverse region.

Serra Cafema

Days 6-9

Serra Cafema is probably Namibia's most remote camp. In the extreme north-west, at the end of the vast Hartmann Valley, this luxurious lodge nestles in a lush belt of riverine forest beside the Kunene River, overlooking Angola. This river stands in total contrast to the arid desert and rugged mountains around it making this a very special location.

Ongava Tented Camp

Days 9-11

The small Ongava Tented Camp is nestled in mopane woodland at the foot of a low hill on the private 300km2 Ongava Reserve, overlooking a waterhole. The reserve borders Etosha National Park on the south side, near the Andersson Gate, and benefits from similar wildlife, with the notable inclusion of both black and white rhino.

Omaanda

Days 11-13

Opened in 2018, Omaanda is a luxury lodge on a private nature reserve north-east of Namibia's capital, Windhoek. It's the fourth property of the Zannier Hotels Group – a small, smart group with strong celebrity links, whose other boutique hotels are in France, Belgium and Cambodia. The emphasis is on a comfortable, unpretentious stay, with very high standards of hospitality, conveniently close to Namibia’s international airport.
