Zambia: reviews from our travellers
Unedited reviews written by our most recent Zambia travellers
"Our May 2024 trip"
It is interesting comparing our many visits as the weather, vegetation and river change with the seasons and phenomena like El Niño. Animal and bird densities also vary. The more often we return the more we learn about the wildlife and the ecosystem.
We are happy with Expert Africa and very pleased with the service that Lucy provided. However we are concerned about rising costs. We acknowledge that inflation has been a serious problem and that the US dollar remains very strong. We would like to make an annual visit to Zambia but know that this is no longer affordable." Maruska met and exceeded our brief, and we can't thank her enough for her time, suggestions and recommendations." Read full review: 23 nights in Africa; 11 on a Botswana safari
"My May 2024 trip"
It has been a drier than usual year, so the grass wasn't too high but the scenery was stunning and green.
Overall, a very enjoyable trip." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 14 on a Zambia safari
"My Apr 2024 trip"
Both camps offered something slightly different although going into the same park. I was lucky to have the safari vehicle to myself for 5 of the 8 days and had amazing leopard sightings and night drive. Any time I asked for anything - leaving slightly earlier for drive, visiting local school (although I found out it was school holidays, a teacher showed me the buildings etc and driver showed me round a village), it was accommodated easily.
I think it is worth noting that you have to climb down steps cut in the bank to reach the boat - might not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues - I was fine.
I did feel that there was a lot of waste when I was the only one in camp and a full buffet breakfast was prepared - perhaps if this is the case they could ask the night before if there is a special request for the next day - for example I could have said no to porridge and toast so that chef didn't have to get up especially!
Having been on safari many times before, I am aware of how lovely the camps are and what a special place Luangwa is.

"Zambia November 2023 trip"
I appreciated all the calls and detailed advice from Amanda - so many useful tips about travel, money, the camps and tipping. I also welcomed the special wallet with a helpful guide to Zambia.
The Tours Africa Company who met us in Lusaka made a huge difference especially when they took us to the nearby hotel whilst we were awaiting our return flight from Lusaka. Thanks Amanda. It all worked like clockwork.
You are an Expert Company and I hope to travel with you again in the future. Zambia is a special country with beautiful people and stunning wildlife in South Luangwa Park.

"Our tenth trip to RPS"
We have been on over 50 safaris to places that not as popular as some - we are not box tickers. See previous answers.
Claire at Expert Africa has arranged all our RPS trips over the years and knows exactly what we require. She is a 'star'. Thank you." Read full review: 24 nights in Africa; 22 on a Zambia safari
"My Oct 2023 trip"
Then to Lower Zambezi NP . Again the combination of main camp and bush camp run by same family worked very well .
The heat was pretty challenging at times. Temperatures in high 30’s - early 40’s most of the trip. We were well advised about this of course but it’s def worth mentioning. The only way to cool down a little is to wrap a wet a kikoy around you at night 👍🏻😊" Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 13 on a Zambia safari
