El Karama Lodge: video gallery

El Karama Lodge: picture gallery

El Karama is a beautiful, rustic safari lodge in the heart of Laikipia.
There are two, larger cottages a little upstream from the main central area.
The larger cottage has a few rooms (both upstairs and downstairs) and so is great for families.
There is both a double room and a twin room on the ground floor.
The bathrooms have a large stone bath and are all good-sized.
The quirky fittings add to the charm.
There are some nice touches - filtered water rather than plastic bottled water, for example.
The four standard tents are a little simpler...
... however these are tastefully furnished ...
.. and are well appointed.
El Karama's central areas consist of a main lounge and dining area…
…where a fire is often lit in the evening.
Tea and coffee are always available, and this is where you help yourself at meal times.
There are plenty of sofas and soft furnishings that adds to the the informal atmosphere.
A great place to spend the afternoon is by the pool, where there is another lounge and dining area...
… as well as sun loungers outside.
El Karama is deep in the bush, and wildlife is often in camp…
…such as the leopard that walked along this path three days earlier.
…so while, in many ways, the lodge is family-friendly, you do have to supervise little ones.
This is even more apparent when you leave the lodge to do a game drive or bush walk.
In the evenings stop for a sundowner to appreciate the solitude.
Wildlife, large (reticulated giraffe…
…and elephant)…
…and small (dik dik) is everywhere.
