This exciting and great value safari includes two very different camps – Impala and Mdonya Old River – in Tanzania's two largest wildlife areas: Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park. These camps offer a very authentic taste of safari in two very different parks – it's a trip of exploration of these two fascinating areas, both boast a high concentration of wildlife.
From the domestic terminal in Dar es Salaam you will fly to Ruaha National Park. On landing at Msembe Airstrip an open-topped 4WD will take you on to the rustic and charming Mdonya Old River Camp. Mdonya retains a very natural atmosphere, and during your 4 nights stay here, you are likely to see plenty of game pass through the camp.
It's about a 90-minute flight to the dramatic scenery of the Selous. There you'll be met and you will begin to take in the differences, and similarities of the flora and fauna of the two parks. The wildlife is slightly different, and the Rufiji River that runs through the reserve gives the area a very different feel. You'll be met and taken to the delightful Selous Impala Camp. This stylish camp includes walking safaris, game drives and boat trips, and you'll stay here for 3 nights to explore the reserve with the camp's enthusiastic guides.
After your last morning safari, you fly to Dar es Salaam. There you can either continue onto an add-on trip, perhaps a beach holidays in Zanzibar, or maybe take a short overnight stop in Dar es Salaam prior to connecting with an early-morning Kenya Airways flight back to London.
