"Peponi review"

4 nights Arrived 17 Jan 2024
"The beating heart of Shela!
We had a lovely room (#25) with private access through window to the swimming pool.
Also swam in the lovely clean sea right outside our room.

Lots going on - bar and restaurant busy with residents and visitors.

Hotel guests have tables reserved automatically on a residents only terrace and also have a residents only rooftop bar.
Family friendly - seemed to be somewhere where those from around the world gather.

Lots of activity on offer - Carole is a very proactive host.
We took a boat for lunch at The Cabanas near Kipungani one day - a lovely spot and a great escape from the bustle of Shela." See all these reviews: 20n in Kenya

"Peponi review"

3 nights Arrived 22 Jul 2023
"Again, we had a wonderful time at Peponi. It is a unique place.

We had beautiful rooms with a view of the ocean, we ate extremely well, and the activities (cooking class with locals, sunset sailing, Lamu excursion) were really interesting.

Highly recommended." See all these reviews: 9n in Kenya

"Beautiful, relaxing, delicious"

4 nights Arrived 2 Jul 2019
"We loved our stay in Peponi. The location was beautiful, the room was gorgeous, the food was delicious (and often exceptional). It was lovely to be able to sleep with the widows open (no danger from people or monkeys) and hear the waves hitting the balcony wall. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. The involvement from management was spot on - clearly fine tuning advice to our interests and wishes. It felt entirely safe and comfortable to walk alone along the beach and in Shela village behind the hotel.

Boat transfers from the airport and into Lamu town are a bit challenge with some mobility difficulties (uneven rocks, slippery steps, narrow planks) but there was always plenty of help on hand, which made it perfectly manageable." See all these reviews: 9n in Kenya

"Fabulous!"

4 nights Arrived 7 Mar 2019
"Absolutely the perfect place to relax and unwind after hot safari days... One can be as lazy or a busy as one wants- with a choice of activities involving sailing, fishing, visits to Lamu and islands- though just walking along the unspolit beach and swimming in the sea is the perfect way to spend a morning. An evening dhow trip through the mangroves worth doing....

Wonderful service- excellent food. Our room was lovely- with view directly onto the beach/sea.

Thoroughly recommended!" See all these reviews: 13n in Kenya
