"Elephant Bedroom review"

2 nights Arrived 3 Oct 2015
"We returned to Elephant Bedroom after a previous stay and were so very glad that we did! Samburu is one of our favorite reserves and Elephant Bedroom does Samburu justice.

Our tent was on a raised platform and was spacious, well-decorated and had a fantastic view. The plunge pool on the deck is a wonderful idea and is perfect for just dangling your feet in or sitting in watching the world happen around you. Laundry is done on request.

The camp is unfenced and open to whatever happens to want to visit. The very friendly and relaxed guards around the camp made sure to point out anything interesting and kept us safely out of the visiting elephants way. Sam, (one of the elephants that likes the camp) came by daily and we watched him with great interest from our deck as he ate the fruit from the tree that the monkeys had knocked down. He was calm and peaceful and not worried by us at all.

In camp is also an observation platform near a small waterhole the camp has created. The guard took us up there when we requested it.

The staff were all wonderful and so welcoming. Everyone embraced my nephew's enthusiasm for his first trip in Kenya and made our stay an absolute delight. Our guide (James) and trainee (John) were enthusiastic, funny and so kind.

The food was always delicious. How they manage to cater so well so far from everything is amazing! For lunch and dinner you are presented with a blackboard menu with several choices to choose your meal from. Breakfast is a buffet with eggs cooked to order.

We will return!" See all these reviews: 10n in Kenya

"Lovely management and staff, and excellent guiding, made Elephant Bedroom Camp a good stop.

It was very hot and still while we were there, but the camp was appealing and the wildlife sightings were superb. And Samburu was beautiful beyond belief!" See all these reviews: 12n in Kenya

"Great location"

3 nights Arrived 27 Jan 2014
"We have been to Samburu twice before and enjoyed it again although the Park has become much busier. Our guide Julius has been with this camp since it opened some eight years ago. With his experience and patience, he was able to initiate memorable lion cub and leopard sightings away from other vehicles.

Elephant Bedroom Camp is brilliantly located for the game and has a superb location on the river for watching elephants crossing and was probably the best option in the Park for us, although with its large number of tents all close together and its 'lodge' feel, it is not our preferred style. We had the far end tent which was great as it was open to the bush on one side." See all these reviews: 7n in Kenya

"Elephant Bedroom Camp"

5 nights Arrived 21 Jan 2014
"We selected this camp because we have a passion for elephants, and as it is unfenced and near to a regular elephant river crossing, we saw plenty! A couple of young local bulls frequently wandered through the camp, by day or night, which was wonderful.

The accommodation was very comfortable: in our case, 2 double beds in a large safari-style tent with a bathroom (hot and cold water) at the back. At the front there was a deck with a plunge pool for cooling off when it became too hot, and which also afforded good views of one of our nocturnal elephant visitors, as he munched his way through the adjacent vegetation. It was also good for bird watching, but beware leaving anything out as the monkeys will be quick to come investigating!

The food was excellent, with amazing meals coming out of the camp kitchen under the guidance of Francis, the head chef. The staff were all helpful, courteous and attentive, and our guides (Anthony and James) were well-informed and knowledgable. We had some good game drives, including 5 leopard sightings, which were a direct result of our guides' local experience." See all these reviews: 5n in Kenya

"Elephamt Bedroom Camp"

3 nights Arrived 9 Oct 2013
"Elephant Bedroom camp complemented Offbeat Meru camp very well. Being larger, the introduction was a little more formal but all the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The facilities were all very good and well maintained and the river-side setting first-class.

The camp is unfenced so was regularly visited by elephants with resident dwarf mongoose, many birds etc. The tents were spacious and comfortable, with hot water day and night. The meals were always good and, in the evening, were served in a delightful candle-light setting. Our driver/guide, Anthony, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and gave us some splendid game drives with lots of action including a rare sighting of a caracal.

We enjoyed our 3 nights there immensely." See all these reviews: 3n in Kenya
