"Spectacular. This is an unforgettable experience. We had a sensitive and thoughtful guide, who found the gorilla family of nine after an hour and half hike. All members of our group were of the same level of fitness, which the national park guides had made sure of before the trek. At high altitude and in thick bamboo forest, the walk was at time moderately challenging. Once we found the family we were then able to spend an hour quietly observing them eating, resting and playing. It was without doubt the highlight of our Rwanda visit." "This was an incredible experience. It was thrilling from the very beginning as our trackers hacked a path into the jungle and we paused from time to time so our guide could explain the evidence that we were getting close to a gorilla family.

We had a fascinating hour with the gorillas. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, explained the behaviour, diets, family group, etc. He was even able to alert us to get ready for a chest pounding. They really know these gorillas.

I wasn’t prepared for how muddy and dense the jungle would be. I would caution anyone to wear old waterproof clothing, boots, gaiters and garden gloves (to push aside thorny plants). It is also mandatory to wear a surgical mask, which adds to the challenges of photographing these quick moving and shy animals.

We literally walked next to the whole family, the silverback included. Even though it rained the whole time and the trek was very muddy, being able to see them interact, still being so active and follow them as they moved through the mountain was an unforgettable experience!"
