The meandering Rufiji River lies at the heart of Nyerere National Park

It forms a complex network of channels, lakes and swamps.

It is a great place for game viewing...

...as well as admiring the beautiful scenery.

Wild dogs can be spotted...

...and also herds of elephant.

Nyerere National Park also has an extraordinary birdlife...

...with over 440 species.

...and elephants as they come down to the river.

Nyerere National Park is worth a visit.

"Our Oct 2024 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 5 Oct 2024 and 19 Oct 2024
"Jessica Plumb is an outstanding professional who was always available to us, even with last minute changes. We have recommended her to others and we would certainly contact her again if we were ever to return to Africa.

The camps we visited both had excellent facilities and staff but Jongomero staff really stole our heart! What wonderful and authentic people!

We recognized real changes in Southern Tanzania that have occurred during the five years since we last visited. Climate change has affected the weather. We had three evenings of rain at Jongomero (one torrential) that surprised everyone since it was still the dry season. At Siwandu, the temperatures reached the high nineties.
Both changes impacted game viewing but our guides were great and went above and beyond to ensure great viewing opportunities. Another change that we noticed in the Selous was “progress” since the new dam was completed. The airstrip has been expanded and they are building yet a newer, bigger one. There is now miles of unpaved highway and lots of truck traffic. Of course, all of this has impacted wildlife. Lastly, we talked at length with many of the camp staff. They told us that cell phones and technology in general is changing life in their villages. Many young people are looking at other options rather than the traditional tribal ways." "My Sep 2024 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 14 Sep 2024 and 29 Sep 2024
"Our holiday was pretty much perfect! Claire found exactly what we didn't know we wanted. We hold her wholly responsible for the fantastic holiday we had.

The high standard of accommodation, safari and activities on the island were greatly appreciated.

The company running the safari camp and Fanjovi Island are a masterclass in customer service.

Thank you for a holiday of a lifetime!

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

The only reason I left "value for money" blank is because we have never paid so much for a holiday, nor have we been on a safari so have nothing similar to compare it to.
It was our best holiday, it exceeded our expectations, so no gripes on the "value for money".

No, we don't have any suggestions to improve your trips or your service ---- and that's unusual." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 12 on a Tanzania safari

"Jessica helped my husband and I plan our first trip to Africa in celebration of our wedding anniversary. She provided great guidance and suggested a trip itinerary to Tanzania and Zanzibar that fit our desires and budget.

We were so impressed that every detail was executed on the ground perfectly. Our transfers, meet and greets, and local flights were exactly as described in our itinerary.

This was a trip of a lifetime for us and Tanzania has forever changed our hearts and lives forever.

Thank you, Jessica!" Read full review: 9 nights in Africa; 5 on a Tanzania safari

"Our September 2024 honeymoon"

I visited Tanzania between 30 Aug 2024 and 16 Sep 2024
"The trip was excellent and each of the camps (Siwandu / Ikuka / Fanjove) were perfect for what we wanted: quiet, close to nature but high end.

Almost every aspect of our trip was exciting and wonderful. It made for a perfect honeymoon.

Jessica @ Expert Africa listened carefully to what we really wanted and made recommendations that suited our wants and needs for the trip.
She was patient in updating the trip itinerary multiple times and we felt well looked after." Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 15 on a Tanzania safari

"My Jul 2024 trip"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 31 Jul 2024 and 12 Aug 2024
"Overall this 'holiday of a lifetime' as we had been describing it to friends prior to going, turned out to be just that. It had so many 'best moments' and highlights, that we've totally lost count. Life doesn't really offer many surprises but stumbling across a leopard after a kill, a bull elephant eating breakfast, a herd of zebra and wildebeest on the move, or a reef shark going about its daily life really are thrilling sights never to be forgotten. It was a holiday of incredible contrasts. From safari, to a bustling city, to a castaway coral island and ending with such luxury. What a heavenly cocktail and all thanks to Maruska and Expert Africa who certainly live up to their name." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 6 on a Zanzibar holiday
