Deka Camp: Our full report
Opened on the 1st June 2019 Deka Camp is located in the north-west of Hwange National Park close the the ...
... boarder with Botswana. This is a small and intimate camp in an incredibly isolated and wild area of the park.Deka Camp has just six tents nestled on a small hill overlooking the Deka seeps, one of the only permanent water sources for miles around.
Although we are yet to visit Deka Camp we are familiar with this northern section of the park. While it can be a wildlife rich area the real draw is the isolation from other camps in the park, and on previous visits we've driven for hours without coming across any other vehicles.
Operated by Machaba Safaris Deka Camp will act as a sister property to the more luxurious Deetma Springs Camp (also being constructed in the northern section of the park), and Verney's Camp to the south. Machaba Safaris also has a range of properties in Botswana (Machaba Camp, Little Machaba and Gomoti Plains Camp) which we have visited previously and have hugely enjoyed. We fully expect Deka Camp to match the style and the quality of these Botswana properties.
The activities on offer at Deka will include game drives, walking safaris and night drives in the camps concession and further afield into the national park.
