"Hemingways Nairobi review"

3 nights Arrived 2 Feb 2023
"A first class hotel with excellent service, facilities and staff.

Nice quiet location in Karen close to the Karen Blixen house and the Karen Golf and County Club.

Although convenient to both Wilson and JKA, no aircraft noise.

Highly recommended." See all these reviews: 13n in Kenya

"Hemingways Nairobi review"

2 nights Arrived 16 Jan 2023
"This was an idyllic place to spend two nights recovering from our flight to Nairobi from London and re-energising before beginning our safari holiday.

Our pick-up from the airport was flawless. Staff were superb. The setting was tranquil and our accommodation was first class. Our only small quibble would be that the property is large and our room was a long way from the main reception/restaurant area. If we stayed here again we'd request a room closer to reception. Food quality was also very good.

All in all, we think this would always be our first choice if staying in or near Nairobi." See all these reviews: 12n in Kenya

"Hemingways Nairobi review"

1 night Arrived 6 Feb 2022
"We stayed at Hemingways twice — arriving in Kenya and departing to our next camp in Tanzania. Unfortunately both of our stays were very short and we really did not have the time to fully enjoy the grounds. It is a beautiful place to stay with large gardens, swimming pool and an excellent restaurant that even features a very nice Kenyan wine. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very clean.

The first night we arrived late from Rwanda during a rainstorm and had to leave early the next morning. We had dinner in our room and it was very good. The service was excellent and we were able to order our breakfast for the next morning ahead of time. The kitchen opens very early in the morning making it possible to enjoy breakfast before an early departure.

Our second stay was a little longer as we arrived early enough in the afternoon to eat dinner in their excellent restaurant. We had a very early start the next morning, so again had breakfast in our room. We appreciated being able to enjoy breakfast before an early departure for Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire National Park.

The staff is very attentive and reliable. We had no problem getting anything we needed and they were very prompt with in-room meals and picking up our luggage." See all these reviews: 12n in Tanzania; 10n in Rwanda; 8n in Kenya

"A perfect start to our trip"

1 night Arrived 13 Nov 2021
"We arrived very late and left very early, but really enjoyed our short stay at Hemingways.

Really beautiful hotel, huge room (and big luxurious bathroom!) and friendly attentive staff. After a relaxing night's sleep, we had coffee and pastries in the room before heading to Wilson Airport. The grounds looked amazing and we wish we could have had more time to explore.

A wonderful start to our trip!" See all these reviews: 15n in Kenya

"Varying experiences, but would recommend"

1 night Arrived 9 Dec 2020
"We stayed at Hemingways on two different occasions during our trip to Kenya. The first night we stayed there was immediately after arriving around 11pm from a 12+ hour day of traveling from Uganda. We were picked up from the airport by the hotel and were SO thrilled to find that our driver brought a room service menu with him and offered to call our order in to the chef. We spoke to the chef directly, who offered for us to eat either in the dining room or in our room - which was an incredible offer given the time of night.

We opted to eat in our room and were VERY happy with the food. Upon arrival, we were checked into our room which has all of the modern luxuries you would hope to find after a very long day of traveling. Anthony was our butler and helped get us acquainted with the room and brought us our dinner and promptly removed the dishes once we were done.

Anthony was amazing and we were so happy to find that he was again our butler when we came back unexpectedly for a second stay. Our first stay, we arrived super late and were picked up around 11am to go to Giraffe Manor the next day. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was very good, and spent a bit of time sitting by the pool. The hotel was very quiet and we found the service all around to be great. We ended up booking a day room on our last day in Kenya, after we ended up getting stuck in the Mara for an extra night and had a full day to kill before our international flight left in the evening.

This time we were here on a Saturday and found that there were 3 events happening (2 weddings and a luncheon), so the vibe was a lot different. It was super busy and a bit chaotic with all of the events, but we ended up using our room to sleep most of the day as we were exhausted from 12 days of going nonstop so it didn’t present a problem. We got massages before we left and found the spa experience to be very mediocre.

Overall, I would recommend Hemingways as a good place to stopover in Nairobi, but just note that the experience could potentially vary greatly depending on whether you are there on a weekend or weekday." See all these reviews: 9n in Kenya

"Thid hotel was just as it was advertised; fabulous. We had lunch, a spa treatment, and I finally got some of the news happening around the world on CNN.

I only wish we had stayed a day longer." See all these reviews: 8n in Kenya
