"The Baboons at Erongo Wilderness"

1 night Arrived 21 Nov 2012
"Amazing place, park at the bottom and then transfer to the camp in a 4X4.

Warm welcome by the staff and then shown to our very luxurious tent on a wooden platform with tremendous views to the massive rock formations populated by baboons.

Lots of dassies and various lizards of varying colours.

Food again was excellent both in the evening and breakfast.

An amazing night, the baboons were screaming and seemed as though the were at the side of the tent, however the night guards were there making sure that none breached the camp perimeter." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 3n in South Africa

"A good lodge amongst huge boulders"

1 night Arrived 19 Nov 2012
"A good and interesting lodge built amongst the boulders.

We were warned on arriving that ours was the only tent which had not been renovated but it was fine for one night. We had a lovely view from the outside seating area. Our visit to the cave paintings was good and our early morning guided walk was good too." See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia

"Even Better Than When We Stayed Here Before"

2 nights Arrived 5 Nov 2012
"The tents here have been renewed and although we were very happy here on our last visit, the new ones are really beautiful. Ours had lovely views. Food was just as good as before and so was the sun downer drive. The guide, Coulisse, was a mine of information.

The young couple managing Erongo had only been there a few weeks but were very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable." See all these reviews: 6n in Namibia; 6n in South Africa

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 21 Oct 2012
"This was the favourite place for both of us,they really get it just right, the new tents are lovely, whilst keeping the original locations.the Managers were very helpful,no problem keeping the room till 3pm on the day we left.

the guides have all been there for ages and know the terrain, flora and fauna inside out. the new open air dining area is a great addition.the food an wine well chosen and nicely served.

A really great place which managed to be get the right mixture of chic and relaxed.
every visit we wishwe had booked to stay longer." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Good to be back"

2 nights Arrived 5 Oct 2012
"We enjoyed our stay here in the spectacular surrounds & it was good to be able to do some walking. Clearly the animal density is quite low particularly after an outbreak of poaching, but given that we had a guide who was well informed about the local flora this was not a problem. It was good to revisit the cave paintings we had seen several years ago.

The tents have been been replaced with larger, more luxurious ones but their furnishing needs revising to provide more storage capacity & surfaces. We understand that this is planned
Overall a very enjoyable last stop before returning.

The lodge needs some method of communication between the lower car park & the lodge so that guests without a 4x4 don't have to lug their luggage up to the camp. We were lucky enough to arrive at the same time as one of the staff who helped us with ours!

I would also point out that the shortest rout between Erongo & Windhoek uses the C36 which has a very good gravel surface & cuts about 35k from the journey." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Erongo - very welcoming"

1 night Arrived 29 Sep 2012
"We drove to Erongo on the afternoon we arrived in Windhoek. It was a sensible approach given we had limited time in Namibia - but it took 2 hours to clear Windhoek airport and get the car from Budget - and that coupled with starting out pretty cautiously on the Namibian roads meant it was dark by the time we arrived.

When we did get there, the staff at Erongo were lovely. They were waiting for us at the car park to transfer to a 4WD for the last bit of the drive, and got us into our room and to dinner speedily after our arrival.

Our room was charming and comfortable, and the food was excellent. We had our first kudu sighting of the trip at the waterhole at dinner in the moonlight.

We got up early for the nature walk. The guide was gentle and knowledgeable, and we felt we learned a little about local culture as well as wildlife.

We were only in Erongo 1 night, but could have stayed another quite happily.

When we were there (end September 2012) they had had a power outage due to a bush fire - so were running on generators. But they were handling it very sensibly and equipped everyone with torches for the few hours in the night when they didn't have full electricity." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"End of a great holiday."

2 nights Arrived 23 Sep 2012
"The granite outcrops in this area create a most unusual landscape with the tents scattered amongst the boulders. The tents have recently been replaced and are not as attractive as the previous ones.but adequately appointed.

Because of the position amongst the rocks it was quite a climb to and from tent and restaurant.

The amount of game to be seen was very limited apart from Damara dik dik and Klipspringer, however the geology and flora were of interest." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Erongo is a very good, well run camp"

2 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2012
"The Erongo Wilderness Camp is in a splendidly isolated situation. The accomodation is very good, we had chalet no. 10 with a great view back over the plain. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant, guided early morning walk and spent the afternoon following the well marked trails around the area of the camp. We can recommend the "Eagle" path as this gives good views of the surrounding area. The bird watching was good, only a few animals but we will definitely visit this camp again" See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia
