Khwai Tented Camp
The small Khwai Tented Camp is located within the Khwai Community Concession, a beautiful, game-rich area that's separated from the Moremi Game Reserve by the Khwai River. This isn't a luxury tented camp – its simple style is reminiscent of Botswana's old safari days when intrepid travellers camped in the wilderness. Khwai Tented Camp started as a nomadic camp but in September 2012 it settled in a more permanent location on a seasonal floodplain that flows from the Khwai River. From November 2016 Khwai Tented Camp will be undergoing a complete rebuild. The existing camp will be closed and will be relocated to a different site within the Khwai area, and we’ve been told it will have fabulous views over the Khwai River. The new camp promises to comprise of six modern sail tents with en-suite bathroom facilities including a flush toilet and an indoor and outdoor shower with running hot and cold water. A far cry from the current camp! In addition, the rebuild will include a neighbouring, intimate, family focused camp comprising of two family units, and two standard units, all with the same en-suite bathroom facilities as the main camp. On our most recent visit in November 2015 we were shown the plans and the artist’s impression for the new camp, and we were most impressed. We think it’s going to be fantastic!
Our view of Khwai Tented Camp
Khwai Tented Camp won't suit everyone. If you're looking for air-conditioned luxury then it won't be the place for you. If, however, you want to experience sleeping with nothing more than a thin canvas wall separating you from the pristine wilderness of northern Botswana, and some of Africa's best game-viewing, then it could be a great option.

The existing Khwai is a simple tented camp, but there are plans to rebuild and open in April 2016.
