Encounter Mara: picture gallery

One of Encounter Mara's strengths is its friendly team of staff.
The lodge is set in quite a wild and bushy part of the Naboisho Conservancy…
…and is nicely integrated into its environment…
…with footpaths of dried elephant dung around camp…
…and pleasant dining spots under the trees.
The central area is relatively modest, with a lounge tent…
…simply furnished with easy chairs and sofas…
...and always fresh flowers around.
The main area opens directly out to the bush surrounding the camp.
This provides a cool space to while away an hour or two during the hot part of the day.
The team here do a good job of making the whole camp welcoming...
and there is also a wifi tent for guests use.
Brunch after a good morning game drive is usually taken outside…
…and eaten communally under the croton trees…
But if guests prefver to dine separately, or if its raining, the dining tent is available…
Dining is informal, but the appetising meals are based around excellent, often organic, ingredients.
There is also a large viewing deck where lunch is sometimes served too.
Encounter Mara's tents are large, solid and comfortable…
…with plenty of space to relax and wait for birds, butterflies and the occasional larger visitor…
…or you can choose a more recumbent position…
…or even a hammock.
Wherever you are in camp, the bush is always the dominant theme.
During the day, the guest tents are designed to be largely open, giving a great sense of immersion…
…in the surrounding bush.
Everything has been done in a stylish, but simple way, that marks Encounter Mara out…
…from some of the more traditionally styled safari camps, and gives it a nice, slightly "zen" feel.
In practical terms everything you need is here, with good hanging and storage space…
…big lock-up chests for anything you want to store securely while you're out and about…
…and well-equipped bathrooms to the side of the bedroom area.
The bathrooms are bright and spacious…
…with practical details well looked after…
…and stylish touches too.
Flush toilets are neatly tucked away…
…and drinking water is filtered and provided in cool bottles rather than plastic.
Encounter Mara uses well adapted Land Cruisers for their game drives…
…and usually incorporates a sundowner into the late game drive, with an after-dark return to camp.
