A pleasant stop over

This was the last stop on our trip. We had a tough time navigating from the north through Windhoek's rush hour and hilly streets to get here. But we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our room, offered us a glass of wine, and recommended a nice restaurant for dinner. They also booked the taxi for us.

The room was small but worked well for our last night in Namibia - WiFi, TV, etc. Breakfast was good - typical of all the breakfasts we had during out trip.

The only minor snafu occurred during checkout. It turns out they charged us for the wine, but needed exact change for it which we didn't have. So that took a little running around to resolve. The easiest solution would have been to waive the charge but that didn't seem like an option.

We preferred Elegant Guesthouse (where we stayed our first night) over Galton, though we did enjoy our brief stay here.

Galton House review

Great guesthouse towards the North of Windhoek. We dined here rather than go out on arrival after a long flight. This was fine.

A nice place to stop overnight on arrival

This was a very pleasant spot to spend a night after a difficult and tiring flight - clean, quiet, well-equipped in terms of amenities and with good food.

Perfect stopover

Whilst not luxurious Galton House was good value and provided everything that we needed for our first and last nights in Namibia.

The staff were helpful and professional and were flexible providing us with a light evening meal on arrival and the sandwiches we fancied on our last night.

Galton House review

The room was quite small with adequate but basic furnishings.

Tea and coffee were not provided in the room - only in the hotel kitchen.

We had to leave for an early flight before breakfast was served and although we had been promised a packed breakfast, this was not available on our departure.

A relaxed start to our trip with very welcoming staff, a short drive into Windhoek but parking is easy in the centre.

Pleasant option in Windhoek

This is a pleasant, somewhat sterile but functional b&b located out of town in the residential Eros district (nowhere near Eros Airport, rather confusingly). The rooms are quite basic, but the shower is good, there’s lot of hot water, and the bed is comfortable. The pool is small.

There is an open kitchen/dining area, where it’s not clear whether you help yourself to tea and coffee, or beers from the fridge, or wander around looking for service. Breakfast was delicious, although service was painfully slow (45 minutes).

You can also take dinner here, which is nice, with a range of decent, well-priced wines, and avoid the hassle of taxis into town and back. Staff are all very friendly.
