Friendly and comfortable Guesthouse
Very comfortable and convenient guesthouse with good secure parking. Friendly efficient service delivered two cold beers within minutes of our arrival.
Good food - we enjoyed the smell of the squash soup cooking during the afternoon and it tasted as good as it smelled.
Lovely room, good service, good food
Location a bit far from the centre but close enough to the bush to get interesting birds and wildlife.
All other things being equal, somewhere within walking distance of the centre, museums etc would be preferable.
Galton House review
This was our stop-off on our route out of Namibia - this time we knew our way in to Windhoek, we felt more familiar with our situation, our room was a little larger and besides sorting out our slightly oryx dented car (see previous comments) it all felt easier.
Our previous comments about possibly preferring to be in a downtown location hold good, though this is no reflection on Galton House or its staff.
Galton House good alternative
We were accommodated here because the Elegant Guest House had got into a muddle with our booking. The guest house is very comfortable and clean but the rooms are fairly basic. The outside space is a great place to relax with a swimming pool and this is very much a plus. The breakfast was good.
It is on the edge of Windhoek, a bit far out and therefore a taxi is needed or you need to drive into Windhoek. It is convenient for travelling out to the north.
This is a very well managed guest house which is obviously very popular with visitors. Situated in a residential area with private (gated) parking. Pool area.
Staff very helpful with restaurant suggestions and taxi service. We needed an early breakfast which they provided outside of their usual time. Free Wi-fi. Close to supermarket and petrol station. Highly recommended.
Galton House comfortable stay in Windhoek
We had a little difficulty finding the Galton House, but this was our first night in Namibia.
The breakfast was excellent and the common rooms very pleasant. We had three rooms, and one of the rooms did not have hot water.

A Good Stopover
Light, airy, comfortable accommodation. Friendly staff.
Not very exciting surroundings.
A pleasant stop over
This was the last stop on our trip. We had a tough time navigating from the north through Windhoek's rush hour and hilly streets to get here. But we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our room, offered us a glass of wine, and recommended a nice restaurant for dinner. They also booked the taxi for us.
The room was small but worked well for our last night in Namibia - WiFi, TV, etc. Breakfast was good - typical of all the breakfasts we had during out trip.
The only minor snafu occurred during checkout. It turns out they charged us for the wine, but needed exact change for it which we didn't have. So that took a little running around to resolve. The easiest solution would have been to waive the charge but that didn't seem like an option.
We preferred Elegant Guesthouse (where we stayed our first night) over Galton, though we did enjoy our brief stay here.
