"Gracious old hotel with beautiful views"

1 night Arrived 24 Jun 2018
"Although the rooms and bathrooms need renovating we would still stay here again. The colonial graciousness, history, gardens with warthogs and baboons, and view of the the bridge to Zambia with the mist from the falls in the background, are not to be missed. The breakfast is excellent as is the buffet with local tribes singing and dancing. Try and book a table just behind the water feature, otherwise a few insensitive people stand in front of you as they video the dancing.

The hotel has extensive lawns but oddly, only 4 chaise on the lawns so people have to sit on steps or walls.

The falls are a 10 to 15 minute walk away through the national game park. The hotel has a security guard, Lindani, stationed at the beginning of the walk and he was most helpful and kind. On both occasions when we walked the path he insisted on escorting us. The one time it was certainly needed as there was an elephant very close to the path.

Note that there is a $30 per person entrance fee to see the falls. They accept credit cards but only between certain hours so check first or just take cash. Wear a rain hat and rain coat. One can rent a raincoat at the entrance. Give yourself 1.5 to 2 hours at the Falls." See all these reviews: 8n in Zimbabwe; 5n in South Africa

"The hotel's an icon and somewhere I'd always wanted to stay.

It is looking a little rundown though - probably more the fault of the economy than hotel management." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana; 3n in South Africa; 2n in Zimbabwe

"BIG Hotel!"

1 night Arrived 25 May 2018
"Victoria Fall's Hotel was not really my cup of tea, BIG Hotel, room's were lovely, staff attentive, food excellent, nothing to complain about apart from it was just too big for me personally, in hindsight i would have preferred to spend my time in a small guest house, where it would i think have felt a bit more personal!" "Victoria Falls Hotel review"

2 nights Arrived 16 May 2018
"Classic, traditional hotel with lots of history.

Not as close to falls as some of the Zambian hotels. you overlook the plume from the falls and the bridge, NOT the falls themselves
Friendly helpful staff

On walk (from a gate in hotel grounds) to the Falls there were many persistent locals trying to sell tourists carved animals and copper bracelets which was a little unsettling." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Beautiful old lady!"

2 nights Arrived 25 Mar 2018
"This hotel is packed with charm and history and has probably the best back garden in the world! We ate in the patio area both evenings, food was good - service mixed. First night was a bit curt and indifferent by our server but the second night we had a different waiter and he was excellent.

View of the bridge lit up at night was wonderful. Breakfast on both mornings taken at Jungle Junction, buffet style lots of choice everything cooked to order.

You have to excuse this hotel for some of her faults, noisy and inefficient plumbing, squeaking floors etc. as she is showing her age a little but magnificent all the same.

Very convenient to walk to the Falls from the hotel gate if you don't mind being harassed by the vendors all the time." See all these reviews: 11n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"A step back in time...."

2 nights Arrived 24 Feb 2018
"This Hotel must be one of the most iconic in Africa .... soaked in Colonial history. It functions well despite being a very busy Hotel - with a constant stream of package tourists checking in and out.... The first impression when you walk out onto the sweeping green lawns and look over to the famous Bridge separating Zimbabwe from Zambia is really one of those fabulous sights.

Getting into Zimbabwe from arriving in Kasane (Botswana) was fine ... again all well organised by Expert Africa.

The Hotel rooms - we had a deluxe Bridge facing room were fine - look rather tired and the AC wasn't up to scratch. The choice of restaurants was excellent and the quality of service was first class.

Although I enjoyed seeing the dramatic falls - i've done it... and probably wouldn't do it again" See all these reviews: 3n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe; 2n in Namibia

"Excellent stay at Victoria Falls Hotel"

2 nights Arrived 26 Oct 2017
"Beautiful and historical Hotel. We were impressed with the personal touch in connection with our 50th Anniversary..a bottle of Merlot with a hand written card from Sekani, Director of Guest Relations. Apparently Rich Ball of Expert Africa informed the Hotel that we were on our 50th Anniversary holiday!!

We really enjoyed the food, service and entertainment at the Jungle Junction buffet! Quiet to sleep and appreciated the mosquito netting. The breakfast buffet at Jungle Junction was very good and relaxing.

The grounds were beautifully maintained and had mongoose and warthogs! The Hotel is connected by a short walk to Victoria Falls.

Everything was quality!! A memorable place to stay." See all these reviews: 7n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe; 1n in South Africa

"Very Comfortable and great proximity to Falls"

2 nights Arrived 19 Oct 2017
"Our first night at the property we had dinner in the main dining room (Livingstone Room) and were very disappointed with the food which was overcooked and boring. We did not feel there was value in the money spent here.

The second night we dined at the Jungle Junction outdoor restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the selection and the very tasty dishes. The entertainment was a real plus as well.

Generally speaking I did not feel comfortable venturing on my own in Zimbabwe and for that reason probably would not return. I was there just to see Victoria Falls." See all these reviews: 5n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Very impressive hotel"

2 nights Arrived 8 Oct 2017
"Although the Victoria Falls Hotel is very grand it has a comfortable feel about it and is very welcoming. The grounds are immaculate and it is a short walk to exit the hotel towards Vic Falls where you are escorted to the falls entrance as wild animals often frequent this area.

We ate our evening meal on the terrace which we enjoyed. Breakfast was very impressive. Make sure you leave enough time to do it justice.

Our only negative point was that the standard rooms are very small." See all these reviews: 9n in Zimbabwe; 5n in Namibia
