"Muchenje Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 30 Sep 2017
"Muchenje has a great view.

Compared to our other lodges it was much more businesslike and structured, less personal. We felt 2 nights sufficient as the day long river cruise and land safari were well worth it, but o/w not much freedom in safari routes.

They offer night and early morning safaris, but the guide said we would not see much and actually seemed to discourage them. A/C was a plus." See all these reviews: 7n in Botswana; 6n in Zimbabwe; 1n in South Africa

"Splendid Vista, Great Staff at Muchenje"

2 nights Arrived 27 Sep 2017
"We thoroughly enjoyed Muchenje Lodge, it's staff, the rooms, food and guides. Fantastic view from the lodge.

The only downside was the distance to the park - though a few minutes from the gate- the drive down to the river front where the animals generally were was another 30 minutes. This uses an hour of the 3 hour game drive. The ranger was superb- we saw lots- and Chobe is superb. Recommend this time of year as the ranger said a lot more time spent in the forest looking for animals once wet season in force.

The Chobe River Cruise is a must do- and it will be great when this departs from the new jetty rather than driving an hour back to Kasane in the open jeep. The benefit of this jeep drive though means you travel back along the river in the jeep to the lodge which was great game viewing.

Paid for private vehicle for the kids but shared a boat- not sure if this was meant to be the case but it meant kids who wanted front seats had to compete with a 400mm camera and be on their best behaviour- took the edge off versus our private one we did independently." "Highlight of the trip"

3 nights Arrived 21 Sep 2017
"The lodge sits on a ridge overlooking the Chobi floodplain and it offers both extensive game drives in Chobe National Park and a cruise and lunch on the Chobi River.

Both are excellent and yield wonderful views of elephant swimming or wading the river, as well as sightings of lions and even more elephant in the park.

We saw 18 lions at one location and 4 more on out twilight journey back to the lodge. Food was terrific." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana

"Muchenje Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Sep 2017
"Wonderful location above the river & plain. the room (a small cottage) was fine ,although we feel that tents are more appropriate. The space in the room was rather compromised however as the the bed net was lowered. This made getting around somewhat difficult.

The activities were highly organised to a prearranged schedule but during the time we were there, did not include any guided walking. Our visits to the riverfront were very successful in that we saw a good variety of wildlife & we felt that our guide was enthusiastic & kept us very well informed.

He also took us on a magnificent river trip from Kasane when we were able to see a lot of birds at close quarters & get amazingly close to a group of elephant as they walked onto the island to which we were moored." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana

"Just amazing, but two nights was not enough!"

2 nights Arrived 16 Sep 2017
"This was our most favourite place on the whole of our trip. We had an amazing chalet with absolutely breathtaking views of the river and plains below. The chalet was clean and very comfortable and every possible requirement had been thought of- good tea and coffee making facilities, bathroom toiletries, patio furniture and service that really was EXCEPTIONAL!

The staff and Managers made this the beautiful place it is and the food served was of the highest quality. We took part in game drives, a river cruise on the Chobe and a visit to a local school to donate our 'Pack for a Purpose' contribution.

Lips collected us from the airport and Rambo was our tour guide for the time we stayed. He was amazing, patient and very informative about the area and it's animals. We had several amazing experiences: whilst sitting on the boat having lunch, a large bull elephant came to drink about only 12 foot away. We then saw very young ellie babies close by having mud baths - a truly emotional experience.

We came across some female lions with cubs and were blessed to see a large male lion who had just made a zebra kill. He walked quite nonchalantly across the front of our jeep. On the second night of our stay, we had an evening meal under the stars with a pit fire and the staff sang and danced; all breathtaking. The food produced was incredible both at the lodge and on trips.

We visited the school which Rambo had attended as a child and were fortunate to meet the Headmaster and spend time in the reception class.

This whole experience was truly the best part of our whole holiday and we feel so fortunate to have experienced it. Toff and Kiddy certainly know how to give excellent customer service and provide a dreamlike experience. The only negative was that we would loved to have stayed longer!! Ironically, we found out that the owners of this lodge only live a few miles from our home in the UK and that we have visited their village on many occasions!" "Muchenje Safari Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 10 Jul 2017
"Although the lodge is feeling a little dated, the staff entirely make up for it, with a great team feel, and the views over the river valley were excellent. Food was sumptuous and meal time conversation always interesting, as it was nice to have guides + some management present. Our guide (Sinek) was absolutely superb, with brilliant local knowledge and a very warm character. The trip to his village and school was one of the highlights of our whole holiday, particularly for our kids. Although the drive to Kasane for the boat trip/safari dayfelt a little long, it was entirely worth it to watch the elephants crossing the river at a quiet time of the day + the game drive back through the park was great." "Wonderful Opportunities await"

2 nights Arrived 24 Jun 2017
"The rooms are great although we did not have much time to use/enjoy them. Three days is probably the correct amount, it also gives you another chance to see animals you may have missed.

We enjoyed mixing with some of our fellow travellers over meals. There was plenty of food, and there were options just as well as ox tail is not on my list. It did seem very busy at times as guests were in and out on trips during the day.

We were unlucky with the early morning trip and did not see anything of real interest, the guide seemed able to detect tracks but not follow them. The next morning other people were much luckier/well looked after. We did however, see two lion kills close by with our other guide, based on other people communicating, and another in the park not so accessible, so that made up for the early morning disappointment. Lots of birds were seen in the Park and on the Chobe river fish eagles a plenty , first time for Pied Kingfishers. It was also good to see elephants swimming so close to us.

Guided trips have rough and smooth it depends on the guide and fellow passengers if both are poor then the experience is dissipated. We had a bumpy ride on the day trip in Chobe, the guide was rushing partly because we had to stop to see some flowers, dead trees and almost any time we saw a giraffe!" "A very nice lodge with all you can dream of. The game drives, morning and all day are amazing: we saw a lot oh hippos, a leopard (quite difficult in this season), jackals, etc.
The transfer from Livingstone to Muchenje and back was very good: every chauffeur was there on time, waiting for us." See all these reviews: 2n in Botswana
