Serval Safari

A fabulous safari staying at two of the finest luxury camps in Botswana’s Okavango Delta – Vumbura Plains and the legendary Mombo Camp. Untamed wilderness, top guiding and exceptional wildlife.

Serval Safari: Summary

Serval Safari in a nutshell

A fabulous six-night luxury safari to pristine wilderness areas staying at two of the very best camps in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.

Begin at the strikingly contemporary Vumbura Plains where you can watch elephants, giraffe and hippo amble by your suite’s deck from the plunge pool. Then take a short flight to Mombo, an ultra-luxury camp on Chief’s Island set amid one of the highest game densities in Africa. Predator sightings from camp are not uncommon.

As one would expect, the guiding quality is exceptional, as is the cuisine and service. Activities included range from day and night 4WD safaris, to boat trips and mokoro excursions in the Okavango Delta.

Though opulent, the two camps are run with real sensitivity to their environment and surrounding wildlife, working hard to reduce their environment impact and supporting important conservation initiatives.

Though close geographically, the camps on this trip is linked by swift light-aircraft flights between bush airstrips. These hops are often spectacular, giving you a real insight into the landscapes and landforms which make up the Okavango Delta, as well as the chance to spot some of the larger animals from the air.

Here, the Vumbura Reserve – known for wonderfully varied and high densities of game – is home to the two adjacent camps that make up Vumbura Plains. Imagine a luxury hotel of contemporary, minimalist design, deep in the Okavango Delta, and you're nearly there.

Ballooning in the Okavango Delta

Ballooning in the Okavango Delta

Half day - mornings only

Airborne over the Okavango Delta is always magical - not only for its beauty, but also for insights it gives you into the patterns of channels, lagoons and floodplains. Floating silently at dawn, watching the early sun light up the misty palms islands and spotting the animals as they wake up is particularly enchanting.

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Various: from 30 minutes to half a day.

Low-flying, agile and offering superb views, helicopters are an ideal way to move around the Okavango Delta. You can use them instead of fixed-wing inter-lodge transfers or as an addition to other wildlife watching activities, and of course, helicopters can hover to allow that perfect pic, whereas fixed-wings can’t.
