Divava Okavango Lodge & Spa review

Lovely place and people. Very nicely designed rooms, but some details need a bit of attention. Good place after a long drive. Some great singing by the staff too.

Excellent in every way. Service, meals and an interesting enjoyable river cruise.

A good base to visit nearby Mohambo game reserve

Divava Okavango Lodge & Spa review

Maybe the lack of sign posts to find this place could have been a clue. We found this Lodge to be old and sad with some of the staff trying hard and others just confused.
The lounge and dining area played the same old music over and over, I think they only had one recording.

Our dining experience lived up to the rest of the stay with the food being very ordinary.

The rooms had a nice view over the river and the location of this Lodge is superb it is a pity it does not live up to it.

The one highlight was the afternoon boat cruise with our guide John who was knowledgeable and did a great job.

Being close to the Mahango National Park was a plus as this is very worthwhile doing a self drive around here.

Divava excellence

Excellent facilities, great food and bar and very good activities.

We were not told of the cost of the activities on our arrival, so when we did find out it was a bit of a shock.. but in the scheme of things did not detract from our enjoyment of divava one bit. The activities themselves on the river and on land were excellent.

Luxury by the river

Superb location and outstanding rooms with excellent views over the river. Outdoor showers with a river view available for exhibitionists...

The small game reserve nearby- Mahango- was surprisingly good and we saw lots of wildlife in a few hours of slowly driving around. It was not busy, just a handful of other people there. The river trip is worth the effort, very relaxing and a nice sunset view over the local Popa Falls (more like small rapids than a waterfall).

Note that the Falls were inaccessible when we were there since a new government complex was in the process of being built there.

There was no opt out of the native dancing/singing- not everyone wants to see this. Food was generally good, but like many places they did not cater at all for vegetarians.

Internet available only in the reception area and like most connections in Namibia you can expect only the slowest of connections, but fast enough for our teenage sons to use Facebook etc.

Stunning vistas at Divava lodge

Wonderful central restaurant perched above the river with lovely views.
Beautiful large individual thatched accommodations all with river views and outside private decks. Bath with a view!

The staff entertained us with their own show of African music.
The lodge is well placed for Mahango game park which is easy to self drive and is a good place to see riverine wildlife.

We enjoyed the sunset cruise to the Popa falls.
Steep steps so not suitable for people with mobility problems.
