Great stay at Bagatelle!
Might have been worth knowing that we needed to be there by 3pm for the afternoon activities as we only stayed one night. Also quite short on food at dinner as we went a bit later.
However excellent stay, thoroughly enjoyed activities, food was very nice and staff were very good and welcoming. Location and scenery (and room) were amazing.
Comfortable stay in excellent surroundings
We stayed here for one night en-route to Windhoek airport for our return flight. We were slightly disappointed not to be able to see the cheetah and meerkat without paying extra for a tour which was not what we wanted at this stage of our trip. That having been said the location, surroundings, accommodation (and its equipment and view), facilities, food and staff were excellent.
A good stop over point: just be aware that even taking the "quick" route it took us 4 hours to drive between here and the airport and we were close to the speed limit all the way!
A VEY GOOD SETTING
EXCELLENT ROOMS ,SUPERB SUNDOWNER THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE AND THE CHEETAHS WERE AMAZING.Read more about the whole safari
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch - Great views
Our rooms were spectacular - set on top of the dunes looking out onto the Kalahari. Lots of game around.
These rooms are suited only for good walkers since they required a fairly long walk through deep sand and up a small hill to get from the rooms to the main buildings.
Great location, service could be better
The location of this ranch is fantastic, the view from the bath exceptional. However the bath water was only a trickle so it promised more than it delivered.
Lunch service when we arrived was very slow, but the barbecue in the evening was excellent
Good introduction to desert/ game
Good friendly staff. Our first encounter of the too large portions of rich food which seemed standard in many places. Game drive was a good introduction to scenery and game.
Enjoyed our chalet on top of the dunes - gave us wonderful views of a great African night sky.
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch review
We had a dune room which was beautiful and in a stunning location.
However we felt this was the most commercial of the places that we had stayed in and the attitude of some of the staff was noticeably worse than we had come to expect during our trip.

We wish we could have stayed longer
We were only staying overnight on the drive from Fish River to Windhoek but were still able to do the game drive in the evening and the Bushman walk in the morning before having a shower and leaving at 11.30am. We so enjoyed the whole experience and the activities we really wish we could have had more time to enjoy the place further.
The food was very good and the staff very helpful and friendly. Our dune chalet was very comfortable with a beautiful view.
Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch review
We stayed in one of the wooden chalets on stilts and would recommend this, both for the room and the wonderful views. A torch is useful for the walk to and from the main building for dinner.
I went on the early morning game drive and was the only one on it - perfect as I could ask the very helpful guide to stop whenever I wanted to take photos. My wife didn't accompany me as we'd just heard that our granddaughter had been born (late, should have been before we left home!) and remained glued to the internet. So grateful for the wi-fi and mobile phone signal which we didn't get on other parts of the trip.
Only disappointment was not seeing the meerkats as this seems to be promoted as a highlight at this location. Questions about this were met with ambiguous replies, we wonder if they're no longer there but they're not admitting it?
Although the staff were friendly this was the least personal of all the private lodges.
