"Kenya trip September 2013"
The only negative point was that the road trip to the Meru national park took much longer than the 5 hours that was expected. It realistically took us 6 hours plus the time from the gate to the camp, so in total it was roughly 7hours. It was interesting to see Kenyan life but it is a very long drive after an overnight flight. After speaking to the camp manager they have not experienced any problems with the flying option but we understand that it was our choice to take the road option but just wanted to make you aware when advising clients that the journey is very long." "Exceeded our expectations"
Our highlights were the visit to the desert adapted elephants from Mowani, a day of kayaking with the seal colony and getting driven over the dunes of Sandwich Harbour with a champagne and oyster lunch (which we organised directly with Sandwich Harbour 4 x 4), and the time spent at Okakuejo waterhole.
Our lowpoints - getting enveloped by a dust devil at Okakuejo." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Namibia trip

"My Sep 2013 trip"
On one previous trip, local problems arose and were immediately sorted out. No problems on this trip, only a seamless transition through Lusaka airport (good assistance from local reps there) and three different camps in Luangwa - all of which said they rate Expert Africa highly for their organisation and the detailed feedback they pass back to the camps from clients, which the camps value.
Luangwa in October is hot (up to 42 degrees max) but manageable and gives great concentration of game, has lots of good dirt roads for access, includes a wide range of environments in the Nsefu sector (so we saw wild dogs for the first time) and plenty of chances to see lion and leopard. Bird life is great even if you're not a twitcher. We went on 5 walks in 12 days, all very well guided, as were the drives by day and night.
We will go back once we can afford it again and if we are not too old by then ....." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 12 on a Zambia safari
"Wonderful Safari"
When we arrived in Tanzania, the drive from Kilimanjaro to our first village walk was about four hours, which was far too long after a night flight. It might have been better to fly to Arusha rather than Kilimanjaro.
It was just a short drive to Zanzibar airport where were it was the worst part of the holiday. The porters were only interested in grabbing your money. A major, major problem at the end of the holiday was to find that there was a departure tax of £80 to pay! We were not advised of this and had not budgeted for it at all. It was fortunate we had the money put by for our taxi fare from Heathrow to home which we used. That interfered with paying the taxi drive once we got home. Surely Expert Africa must know about this tax but there was no mention of it in any of the information we were given. It really spoilt the end of the holiday." "A wonderful trip to Selous, Ruaha & Zanzibar"
Everything went very smoothly and it was great to find that all of our connections worked like clockwork.
We were able to get a good feel for the camps and locations from the website and that made planning our holiday much easier." Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 8 on a Tanzania safari
"Feedback"
The only thing I would ahve changed was not to stay at Muchenji. It was my preference that we stay away from Kasane in a more remote environment but I hadn't fully appreciated the distances and the amount of travel time involved to visit the NP and river.
It was fortunate that we had fleeces with us and I would certainly recommend that all visitors take warm clothing with them for the morning and evening game drives. In my view this should be emphasised more strongly.
Please warn guests that the G&T's served are really, really strong" Read full review: 30 nights in Africa; 10 on a Botswana safari
