Black-backed Jackal Safari

A classic Botswana safari to Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. Staying at highly rated tented camps with strong guiding teams, this trip delivers game viewing and is excellent value.

Black-backed Jackal Safari: Summary

Black-backed Jackal in a nutshell

This six-night Botswana safari offers exceptional value for money and concentrates on remote areas of the Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. You will stay in two top quality camps, one being a very comfortable mobile camp and the other a permanent safari camp.

Both camps are small and provide exquisite food, high levels of service and fairly simple but very comfortable tents. They are located in areas known for their variety of wildlife and a combination of these two camps should deliver top quality viewing of Botswana’s most iconic species.

Activities are varied and include game drives, mokoro canoe excursions and boat safaris. These are enhanced by a great team of guides who really go the extra mile for their guests.

Though far apart, this trip is linked by light aircraft flights between the bush airstrips close to each camp. These hops are often spectacular, giving you a real insight into the landscapes and landforms which make up the Chobe, Linyanti and Okavango Delta, as well as the chance to spot some of the larger animals from the air.

Chobe Under Canvas

Days 1-4

Chobe Under Canvas aims to combine the advantages of a mobile camping safari with the luxuries of a semi-permanent tented camp. Always based in the Chobe Riverfront area of the Chobe National Park, the camp is packed up every fifth day (in keeping with the national park's mobile-camping rules) and moved to a different private site in the same area.

Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp

Days 4-7

Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp (formerly known as ‘Nxabega Safari Camp’) is set in an area of mixed woodlands and floodplains situated within a 70km² private concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, to the west of Chief's Island. The camp’s pedigree is good, and it aims for a very high standard of food, comfort and care. There’s both dry land and water around, and so it offers game drives as well as mokoro and boating activities.

Side-trips whilst on this safari

We may be able to build in some of these optional excursions from the Black-backed Jackal Safari. Talk to us: they’re usually best arranged when you book.

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Helicopter Flight - Botswana

Various: from 30 minutes to half a day.

Low-flying, agile and offering superb views, helicopters are an ideal way to move around the Okavango Delta. You can use them instead of fixed-wing inter-lodge transfers or as an addition to other wildlife watching activities, and of course, helicopters can hover to allow that perfect pic, whereas fixed-wings can’t.
