"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
Staff were welcoming and efficient.
The long barn which serves as lounge/bar and eating area is a great feature and the small floodlit waterhole draws a constant stream of small game animals and birds.
Our only criticism was the food offered for the evening meal - we felt it was very limited, however the breakfast was very good with a wide choice on offer.
Being a comfortable 3 hour drive from Windhoek it is a good first night stop on the way to Etosha or Damaraland." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"A real treat"
We were fortunate to be upgrade to a 'View Room' - which was delightful with a panoramic window view out onto the reserve, and huge bathroom with walk-in shower.
The activities here focus on tracking the collared cheetahs and leopards. We had just one drive, and got to walk up to within feet of two cheetahs relaxing after a feed - a really magical moment. We had to leave to early the next morning to didn't have the chance to look for leopards - but did see lots of other animals on the drive back out of the reserve. It would certainly not have been difficult to fill two days!" See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia
"Luxury retreat - with Cheetahs!"
The plains view room we had was brilliant - huge, luxurious with a great view of the plains and the wandering warthogs and springbok - and the food in the lodge was great quality.
But the draw here is the cats. We were really pleased to get a very up-close view of two cheetahs during our afternoon excursion.
My only regret is that we didn't stay for more nights and weren't able to go on the leopard-tracking drive. Next time!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Great start to our trip"
Food was excellent. A few issues with the gluten free for one of our party, but just that they forgot from time to time. They were geared up.
We very much enjoyed the activities available to us, especially the walking safari to find cheetahs." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Good stopover to/from Etosha"
The activities, in spite of the number of guests, were well organized, but we missed a real wild feeling as all cats we saw were collared,
Self guided walks were a bonus !!" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
"Leopard viewing"
The food was excellent as was the choice of wine.
Our morning game drive yielded sightings of two separate leopard, one of which was relaxing in a worn away termite mound." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana

"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
Stayed in the family view room - two fully interconnecting large hotel-style rooms forming a single unit isolated from others and overlooking the bush. Very nice, and a welcome opportunity for children and adults to be fully separated.
Breakfast was a buffet - perfectly fine. Lunch was a bizarre set-menu - but could easily be avoided with a late breakfast, midday fruit and early afternoon cake! Dinner was fine and included a kids option if ordered in advance.
Visited Africat - which was interesting - including various animal parts and veterinary equipment which the kids could touch.
The highlight though was undoubtedly the game drives. The cats are tagged, so that may affect some people's appetite for the camp. However, with an exceptional guide who was brilliant with children and got the balance just right between finding leopard and cheetah, and observing everything else in the reserve, the kids found it exceptional. We saw lots of game and birdlife. We watched a leopard and two cubs very active and very close-by for over an hour. We saw porcupine and three brown hyenas together and many other great sights.
Very nice pool and surrounding area." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia
