Lovely setting - great walks

Good location for a first stop after Windhoek.

Fantastic views from comfortable rooms in a spacious rest camp. A curiously old fashioned restaurant serving standard NWR fare.

The high spot is the walks, whether accompanied or not, and the prolific bIrd life and fascinating flora and fauna in an envirnment unusual in Namibia by having plenty of water.

Waterberg Camp review

Having heard bad things about Waterberg Camp during our trip, we were not sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised. We were given two bungalows next to each other and kept company by our own group of 4 dik-diks. It was nice to be able to BBQ on our private terrace.

Although baboons are apparently a problem in some parts of the park we didn't even see one during our stay. The rock mountain towering above the camp is impressive, but as we were only here one night we didn't have time to explore much. The swimming pool was large and clean.

One small thing that should perhaps be clarified to new visitors is that although it says on the paper you receive on arrival that breakfast is until 9.30am, you do in fact need to get there by 8.30 to place your order and even then we were told off for being late!

A short stay at Waterberg started our holiday

The accommodation was excellent - obviously recently refurbished. But the food was no more than average. And the service - both at reception and in the restaurant varied a bit - some people were very friendly, others a bit indifferent.

There was a lovely terrace outside the restaurant, but it was a shame that it wasn't actually open in the morning for a cup of coffee! We did enjoy watching a group of mongooses playing there while we were killing time.

Waterberg Camp review

We were pleasantly surprised by this government run facility.

The staff were very friendly and the room was basic but very clean.

The walks surrounding the camp were pleasant and the walk to the top of the escarpment is a must.

Waterberg Camp review

This was a lovely place to end our travels.

There are plenty of walks both easy and challenging and loads of wildlife.

The restaurant was good with plenty of choice.

Great views from plateau

Reception chaotic on arrival as lots of people being served at same time, staff there though were helpful and friendly.

Restuarant in beautiful building, food good and new management team seeking to welcome guests. Pool and surrounding area needs attention, pool was deep green and uninviting and insufficient seats etc.

Hiking is a delight and views specacular at top of plateau. Other than that, wildlife hard to see and not much to do at evenings. Rooms are not air conditioned and although having a fan, it is insufficient given the heat to get a good night sleep.
