"A memorable Manager!"

1 night Arrived 4 Oct 2010
"We were disappointed that the 'luxury ' room with bath we had booked was not available apparently due to flooding .The alternative room with shower only was ok but the bathroom smelled of damp and the sheets on one bed were full of holes and the other was quite stained.

It was also very noisy right next to the outside terrace of the restaurant and with staff noise and radio sounds coming through the bathroom window on the other side as well. We had to wait a long time after we arrived for towels and toiletries to be provided so we couldn't use the bathroom straight away.

The manager was a marvellous, personable man who took it upon himself to bring them in the end and the next morning he also ensured we got breakfast even though it had all been cleared away (despite us arriving before it was due to finish and even having told the reception that we were going for a walk first and would be back to eat 15 mins before it ended) We were impressed that he asked the restaurant staff to lay things out again for us and even sent out to a shop for supplies as there was not much left after a large group had been in residence. We had initially been turned away by a waitress when we first arrived and were glad we had persisted and were able to enjoy the most beautifully cooked omelette of the entire trip!

A request for extra coffee supplies in the room to supplement the rather meagre existing ones was very promptly, politely and generously supplied so ironically the service was very good overall when it came to remedying 'problems'! The accommodation was in a useful position for walking round the interesting town and was a pleasant urban stopover with an attractive appearance and nice outdoor area." "Clean and smart Central Lodge"

1 night Arrived 13 Sep 2010
"Well located in the centre of town, but not far to drive to the Quivertree Forest (our reason for being here).

Very clean and tidy. Manicured lawns and a spotless pool area." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"This place is in town close to a supermarket and the banks. It has a luxury feel about it. Very clean and smart. There is a central lawned area with tables and chairs where you can sit with a drink in the sun.

The restaurant runs efficiently and the food is delicious." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 6n in South Africa

1 night Arrived 1 May 2010
"We were greeted by blank looks at the Reception Desk....it would appear no booking had been made! There was a wedding reception at the Lodge that day and they were accommodating wedding guests.

We were put in Room 19 next to a room used by the staff when off duty.....thru' the night we had loud music and high spirits. Please warn your guests in future not to accept Room 19!" See all these reviews: 26n in Namibia

"Central Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 19 Aug 2009
"We were dissapointed with the family room at this place and glad we only booked one night. It was worn down and have definitely seen better days. E.g. the curtains were very dirty and fell down when you touched. The door to the toilet could not close ect..

At least the family rooms need a serious makeover! However, the staff in the reception were friendly and the restaurant fairly good. The pool could be nice at summertime, but freezing cold at winter." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

1 night Arrived 27 Jul 2009
"It was a bit of a let down after Anib - the AC wasn't working and it was cold - we were supplied with a heater which did the job. The fountain was lovely and lit up.

We ate in the resturant where the food was acceptable, but staff kept walking in and out, leaving doors open and it was freezing!" See all these reviews: 24n in Namibia; 11n in South Africa

"Central Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 7 Jun 2009
"The only let down was the room. I appreciate they gave us the room nearest to the facilities because of John's disability, however, the room was dated, too many beds crammed in and a strong smell of airfreshener was possibly to disguise the smell of cigarettes.

The refridgeration unit backed on to the room and was very noisy during the night. We didn't get to see the newer rooms but certainly from the outside they looked far superior and were just as easily accessible and if we were staying longer I would have asked to move rooms." "Good for a stopover"

1 night Arrived 8 May 2009
"On the long drive between Windhoek and Fish River Canyon, Keetmanshoop is an obvious stopping off place, to fill up supplies of fuel and cash. Although the town is the administrative centre of this part of the country it is still a small town by European standards. The range of accommodation is limited.

Central Lodge is as the name suggests bang in the middle of town, with everything one needs. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned with TV, there is a pool and a good restaurant and small bar." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
