"Perfect for a first night in Zambia"

1 night Arrived 15 Jun 2015
"I was met at the airport by a Pioneer Camp driver who was a welcome sight after a long and anxious journey. Once we arrived, I was quickly checked in and taken to my chalet which was exactly as described.

I enjoyed a nice afternoon around the grounds and the evening was spent at the open lodge area talking with other travelers and later eating a nice meal. It was a casual and very enjoyable atmosphere. The night became extremely cold but there was ample bedding so it was not a problem. Breakfast was also good and I was picked up at my chalet and taken to the airport promptly.

This camp delivered exactly what I was expecting. Although it wasn't a luxury lodge, it was a very comfortable and inviting place to spend my first night in Zambia." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"This was a great place to stay after our flight into Lusaka. We were collected from the ariport and dropped back the following day for our next flight.

The room and food were good (the steak was very good) and the staff were very friendly. Excellent value." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Good stop over in Lusaka"

1 night Arrived 15 May 2015
"Good drivers from and to the airport. The room was fine although nothing special but okay for the price. Hot water was available both in the evening and again in the morning. Food was tasty and freshly prepared. Good birding in the grounds - we saw owls and woodpeckers. We would happily stay there again.

My only suggestion for management to consider would be to I introduce a staff uniform or badge system. We were not certain who was looking after us as some of the staff seemed a bit reticent." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Only a short visit because we only arrived around midnight and returned to the airport just after breakfast the next day.

However the rooms were spacious and very comfortable and breakfast was good." See all these reviews: 21n in Zambia

"Pioneer Camp review"

1 night Arrived 9 Sep 2014
"Nice place to stay if in Lusaka only 30mins from the airport and easy to get a taxi if needed.

Very clean, friendly staff and good food. Drinks reasonably priced.

No activities on site apart from a bit of bird watching not an issue as generally used as a stopover. Having said that the owner Paul would organise anything you would like to do even down to an escorted safari in little known areas but you would have to e-mail him first." "Pioneer Camp"

1 night Arrived 8 Oct 2013
"The second half of the journey from the airport is on a fairly rough unmade road and the location is quite remote, which makes for an apprehensive arrival, but once at the camp the general ambience, the setting of the grounds and very friendly staff boosted my overall assessment. It is not luxurious but it makes a great overnight first or last stop - a real feeling of having arrived in Africa.

The collection from the airport (twice - at the beginning and end of our trip) worked well as did the transfers to the airport. The terrace in the half shade of the trees was greating for relaxing with a beer and for eating our meals." See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia
