"Hoodia Desert Lodge Post Covid Sept 2022"

2 nights Arrived 9 Sep 2022
"Our stay at Hoodia was wonderful - we took a Sundowner trip on the first evening which was magical - a great sunset followed by an almost full moon.

The rooms at Hoodia and the facilities in the main lodge were wonderful and the food was well cooked and presented. A special thank you for the efforts made catering for 2 vegans - they were very impressed with all meals." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 8 Sep 2022
"The lodge was great and situated in a beautiful spot. Our guide was in training, and he didn't seem to have a feel for 'reading' guests and to be receptive of their needs. The senior person with him had a much greater depth of explaining things and his experience definitely showed. So it was great having him along and it made a big difference.

It had not been made clear to us that because we were outside of the Park, we could not view the dunes at sunrise.

It also would have been nice to have time to do the balloon ride, but because we were leaving relatively early the next day, there wasn't time. That being said, a two night stay here was adequate. The spot they chose for the "Sundowner" was beautiful and memorable.

We were a bit rushed here, and couldn't have the "Sundowner" on the day we arrived because of a flight delay from Windhoek, which was totally out of everyone's control. But a beautiful spot, and I loved seeing the beautiful dunes, which was always on my bucket list.

The tented room we had, while it had A/C, had open access to the air outdoors, so consequently the room was quite hot. John did mention this to Mr. Thomas, the owner, that was there at the lodge.

The lodge itself was beautifully constructed, with unique architecture." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 3n in Zimbabwe; 1n in South Africa

"Wow, what a place.

Kanaan was fantastic for its views and location but this hotel was the highlight of the trip, so glad we had two nights here. Rooms beautiful and set apart, location great, main hotel building beautiful, lovely bar, fabulous restaurant and food, staff wonderful, sundowners on the little hill next to the hotel spectacular, trip to the dunes and meal in the bush wonderful.

We so want to go back again." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"A great welcome at Hoodia Desert Lodge"

2 nights Arrived 24 Jul 2022
"The staff and manager were excellent in their welcomes and hospitality throughout our stay.

They went above and beyond dealing with an unrelated issue on behalf of my wife, who was exceedingly grateful. We also found the food exceptional and the accommodation spacious and extremely comfortable.

It was a stunning setting with amazing sunrises and sunsets." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Our welcome from Daniel was second to none, a great introduction to the lodge and its facilities.

The staff were fantastic, everyone was friendly and helpful. Stunning location and amazing sunsets and sunrises. The food was outstanding, beautifully cooked and presented. It was like being in a Michelin restaurant in the middle of the desert! Our daughter's vegetarian requests were accommodated with ease, with equally delicious food being created for her.

This is a very special lodge, the main lounge area, deck and bar are beautiful and a relaxing space to unwind in." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 30 Jun 2022
"Hoodia excelled in the organisation and little extras that made the day exploring the dunes truly memorable. The “package” is pretty similar to other high end lodges (I have been before) but the quality of the picnic (on a par with the sundowner drive experience the night before) added significantly. Our guide, Lucas, scored top marks too for his professionalism and adaptability.

The lodge itself is nicely located at the foot of attractive hills and the dry river bed. As a new lodge it has not had first choice of locations and perhaps it is a slight disadvantage to be a little far from the park gate although that was perfectly manageable." "Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 11 Jun 2022
"Great staff at Hoodia and the full day Sossusvlei excursion is a must if you are staying here. Our guide Ennis was very knowledgeable about desert wildlife and with great skill found us spiders, shovel snouted lizards and an owl.

The guide will take you to a beautiful spot for lunch near a large weaver bird nest that will keep you thoroughly entertained during a fantastic lunch. This tour also includes an easy hike through the canyon at the end of the day that is worth doing.

The chalets at Hoodia are very private and have an outdoor shower option. We enjoyed its location on the banks of the Tsauchab and spent some time walking the river bed. Sunsets from the chalet were spectacular." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 7n in Zambia; 5n in Rwanda; 1n in South Africa
