Namaqualand is a very remote area.

It is famous for its flower season from late August until early September.

"Sep 14 SA and Namibia"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 6 Sep 2014 and 26 Sep 2014
"Wonderful. SA was lovely but Namibia was just stunning. Scenery was amazing, wildlife abundant, roads empty and the people very friendly. Easy paced holiday allowing us to do as much or as little as we wanted. Drove over 2,500 miles but barely noticed it! Thank you so much for the excellent itinerary.

Warn travellers about the chaos at Joburg airport!! Do not book people onto internal connecting flights that leave within 2 hours of initial arrival." Read full review: 20 nights in Africa; 12 on a Namibia trip

"Great holiday. We plan to return next year"

I visited South Africa between 29 Aug 2014 and 15 Sep 2014
"Our holiday was in two parts. The Kgalagadi in September will not be to everyone's taste as it is by no means a luxury holiday. It takes good advanced planning to make sure you are properly stocked up with water and other essentials before you set out from Upington. Your diet could be limited to red meat on the braai but don't let this put you off. This is a holiday for those who value the traditional south african safari experience.

From the Kgalagadi we travelled through Namakwaland at wildflower time. So lucky, as there are only a few weeks in the year when the desert blossoms. It is unforgettable.

"Aug/Sept 2014 - Kgalagadi & Fish Canyon"

I visited South Africa and 1 other country between 21 Aug 2014 and 10 Sep 2014
"When we booked the trip we had already made our own arrangements for international flights and for 6 nights in three wilderness camps ( Kieliekrankie; Kalahari Tented; Bitterpan) in the Kgalagadi NP. All of the camps offer a great experience but on reflection one night at Bitterpan would be sufficient. Also worth noting that the drive to the camp has one or two dune challenges!

This was our second visit to the park and we thoroughly enjoyed our 12 nights with some great game viewing interspersed with some very quite days!
If in the region the Fish Canyon is well worth a visit for 2/3 nights. We were also very fortunate to arrive back in Springbok to witness the flowers which again was highly enjoyable.

Overall a great experience." Read full review: 20 nights in Africa; 10 on a South Africa trip

"My Aug 2014 trip"

I visited South Africa between 14 Aug 2014 and 17 Sep 2014
"We thought it was very good value for money.
Staff at airports, hotels, restaurant, everywhere were excellent. Very friendly, very helpful.
Food quality exceeded our expectations.
Good variety of foods available.
Very varied landscape and activities with the choices we made, so no time to get bored.
Packing not so easy with temps from 34degC to 2degC
Very pleased we took our GPS, less stressful, no music in the car is the biggest negative. Radio stations are boring or not in English.
Main reason to travel at this time of year was to see Namaqualand in flower, it was spectacular.

"My Feb 2014 trip"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 4 Feb 2014 and 28 Feb 2014
"Very good holiday. As it was a trip to the unknown we needed assurance on safety etc. 4wd drive essential. The double cab pickup we had was ideal. Small car option with 4wd not good enough. We had to help someone stuck in the riverbed.

Would have been helpful to have had stopping points on journey pointed out eg petrified Forest. Was very glad not to have stayed at Ludderitz ( did you recommend Nest Hotel ?)

2 failed card payments gone through bank although failed at the time at Fish River Lodge, so paid cash. Will try to recover through credit card company or will be back to you" Read full review: 24 nights in Africa; 17 on a Namibia trip

"South Africa yet again"

I visited South Africa between 27 Jan 2014 and 12 Feb 2014
"We have been to sub-Sahara Africa fourteen times now, althogh not always to South Africa and not always with Expert Africa. This was another good trip with good sightseeing, game viewing, food and wine. An extra night would have been useful at some venues, but we had to cope with a fixed time slot.

Africa is an incurable disease - we will be back for more." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 13 on a South Africa trip

"My Sep 2013 trip"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 8 Sep 2013 and 23 Sep 2013
"This was a second holiday booked with Expert Africa. For the first trip they were excellent, but this time not so good. Three comments -
1. this second trip was across two countries and Expert Africa staff seem organised by country. I was passed from one person to another and initially nobody seemed responsible for the whole trip
2. lack of answers to e-mails. On a couple of occasions I gave up waiting and had to phone
3. I booked 10 months in advance and even that far out some lodges were already fully booked. We were wait listed. A month before departure I contacted Expert Africa to make a final check of our wait list status and was somewhat surprised to find that in 10 months Expert Africa had not followed up on the bookings. By lucky chance only, we eventually got our first choice lodges, but only because I followed up" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 8 on a Namibia trip

"6 Happy returners to Namibia in 2013"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 3 Sep 2013 and 3 Oct 2013
"Our trip as a whole was superb, from the initial contact with Sabina, to our arrival home.

We had enjoyed our visit so much 2 years ago, that we wanted to return, and see more. this could well have been an anti climax, but fortunately it wasn't. None of us have any regrets.

We noticed the effect of no rain for more that 2 years, very little greenery anywhere.

The unmade roads were in a bad condition, which we were told was due to the increase in large tourist transports.

The people, the accommodation and the food were as wonderful as we expected. Thank you Sabina for putting such a great trip together for us.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

A little caution is required when driving from Dolomite to Okaukuejo, especially in a 2x4 car. We were warned, by a frequent visitor, of very deep tyre ruts, at the start of the most direct route. We took the slightly longer southerly route (an extra12 Kms), which was fine.
We were also warned of the extremely large Anteater holes in the roads, some were 2 feet wide & 18 inches deep. Many could be seen, if driving at a sensible speed, as they had pile of earth beside them, but others were not visible until nearly on them! They need to be avoided, or the car would get stuck, and you could do serious damage!

There were none east of Okaukuejo." Read full review: 30 nights in Africa; 24 on a Namibia trip

Would further suggest that you recommend your clients take the flight over Sossusvlei and the morning drive arranged by the Lodge to Sossusvlei itself. Both these activities were excellent and most enjoyable." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Namibia trip
