"The hippos at Ndhovu send you to sleep"

2 nights Arrived 3 Aug 2009
"A small lodge where they really do their best to make you feel at home.

The food was OK, though not haute cuisine (but it was served on the most beautiful hand-painted crockery).

The location is great, with wonderful views of hippos and elephants on the other side of the river - hippo noises make for a truly African lullaby! The owner Horst is a good guide on the sunset cruise." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 30 Jul 2009
"Ndhovu was a great experience. The place by the river is just wonderful, and you can enjoy lots of sounds throughout the night.

We stayed in the tent floating on the river and the first morning there was a family of otters right next to us. The evening boat trip accompanied by Horst was superb. Eating all together (the funny members of staff included - there were few other guests when we were there) at breakfast and dinner was very nice and family-like." "Great Potential"

1 night Arrived 8 May 2009
"We arrived after a long drive from Maun, around the West side ot the Okavango Delta and through Shakawe. As anticipated, the approach road was flooded but we were met and shipped efficiently to the Lodge. The owner was absent during our stay, a pity because his deputy seemed to have his hands full most of the time. We mangaed to fit in an excellent boat trip at sunset, Erasmus was an expert spotter, with eyes like a hawk. Otherwise a very satisactory stay, and we'd recommend it." "Getting close to the hippos"

1 night Arrived 5 May 2009
"This lodge has a great location on the banks of the Okhavango River but it was let down by the standard of our room which we thought was badly in need of refurbishment (particularly the bathroom).

When we arrived our room and bathroom were filled with wasps - checking out the accomodation before guests arrive might be a good idea. Also providing insect repellants in the room would be appreciated as being near the river there are quite a few insects.
When we were in our room after dusk the hippos sounded very close and their trail/ river entry point was very near our tent. We were provided with a torch but I didn't feel very comfortable walking over to dinner in the dark- as other guests haven't commented on this maybe I'm being a wimp!

On the plus side the food was very good and the owner and staff were very accessible and helpful. For example as soon as we arrived (by boat transfer) we asked to be taken straight out again and they were very very obliging. After dinner the staff gave an impromptu concert of singing and dancing which enjoyed." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 30 Apr 2009
"This was probably our favourite lodge.

The road to the lodge was flooded when we got there but we were collected by boat and transferred with little fuss and a sense of humour.

The welcome , the decor, the position all put us at ease immediately.

We at all meals together with all guests and the owner Horst.

Wonderful experience." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 20 Feb 2009
"On arriving at Ndhovu we were met by Horst and informed that we were the only guests. The tented accommodation was fine . THe evening boat ride was excellent . Great birds and some good animals along the bank. Tasty food taken wth Horst , fascinating entertaining company.

A morning drive in the Mahango Park was great fun , but did not see the elusive sable . Really enjoyed the camp and the personal service. One plus point was that unprompted our car had been washed after the mud of Etosha and that was a real bonus." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 16 Nov 2008
"This place grew on us rather, but then we did arrive in the most amazing storm, and were assigned the river tent with net curtains, chemical loo and Hippos making the most unbeiveable din!

Horst also improved on better aquaintance, food was fine,we did move to tent on dry land for second nite, which was rather more peaceful,we didnt do their game drive." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 15 Oct 2008
"Good for birds and Mahango NP (where you can drive yourself - unlike Lianshulu) very close. Horst was an excellent host and dining family style worked very well

Note - I suspect we were under-charged for activities and drinks : we would be happy to put this right (perhaps via Expert Africa and Wilderness Safaris) if Horst lets us know what we owe him." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Classic Safari Camp"

2 nights Arrived 27 Sep 2008
"Tented accommadation in classic rustic style but with plumbing and electricity. The bathrooms could do with a little upgrading but were all that was needed.

Pleasant welcome and introduction to the camp. Horst was a very congenial host assissted by the amiable and laid back Chris. A small swimming pool and well stocked bar completed the scene.Food was good and served around one or two big tables depending on how many guests were present.

We had two good boat trips with the knowledgable Erasmus and an excellent game drive with Horst. Another gem !!" See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 2n in Zambia
