"Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge"

1 night Arrived 20 Apr 2014
"The rooms are beautiful. There is air con although we didn't use it. They have nice shaded seating areas outside each room which are very private and catch the breeze.

The service lacks the personal touch. The food is ok but nothing special. We went on a sundowner game drive which was a bit disappointing. The driver ignored all the birds and inevitably put us in a spot that was either looking directly into the sun at the animals or had a bush between us and them. Not so good for taking photos. We also did the nyala self guided walk which we enjoyed.

There is a tame meerkat who runs around the lodge. The owners of the lodge found him and his sister abandoned when they were pups and they hand reared them. They released both meerkats when they were old enough to survive on their own but toffee decided he preferred the good life around the lodge than life in the wild. When we were there he showed up for afternoon tea to beg for cake." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 7n in South Africa

"Convenient"

2 nights Arrived 10 Nov 2013
"A lodge without a definite character or personality. Our room 'Nyala' was huge with three elements joined together. One contained the sitting room (with an open fire for cold nights), one with the bedroom and one with the bathroom. It had the essential air-con in the bedroom (it was 40 degrees when we were there), fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. No complaints about that at all.

We originally had no hot water but that was fixed promptly when reported. Food was average. Good free wi-fi in the public area. As mentioned, we were there in very hot weather so as it was too hot to walk and there is nowhere of note in the vicinity to drive to, the early morning or sundowner drive is really all there is to do.

My advice would be to arrive in the early afternoon, enjoy the complimentary tea and cake, and then go on the sundowner drive. Stay one night at the beginning or end of your trip as it's only 2 hours from Windhoek (but 3 from the airport)." See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia

"Red Dunes Lodge"

1 night Arrived 20 Sep 2013
"Very well situated, just by the B1 and although we were not able to enjoy much of it as we arrived just as the sun was setting due to having to get a tyre repaired, it was a nice place to stay.

The rooms were very nice, private and comfortable and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful, including Toffee the pet meerkat. The food was very good as well." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa

1 night Arrived 15 Sep 2013
"Location was good relative to arrival time at Windhoek and travel plus plans for following day.

Hospitality and friendliness were excellent and facilities generally very good.

Food was generous and good. The breakfast was better than the dinner.

Would have liked to spend slightly longer time there to experience the feel of the Kalahari" See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia
