"Beach Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 1 Sep 2008
"The outside of this hotel has the shape of the prow of a ship, and its windows resemle portholes. Rooms are named after wrecks along the coast, and there is a rather melancholic map showing all the ships sunk my enemy action round South Africa during the two wars. However, apart from this bizarre theme, the Beach was an excellent hotel. We were given a comfortable room facing the beach (french windows opening directly onto it), and upstairs there was an excellent restaurant with a good menu and good food. An internet point was available for guests.

The receptionist staff let the hotel down - twice failing to pass on messages, and not regarding this as a matter of any great concern.

Our very dirty car was cleaned for us before we left.

Day trip along the coast south of Swakopmund: Somewhat disappointing. Because of a high sea we were unable to reach Sandwich harbour but stayed on the dunes.

However we saw the extensive salt workings and later spent some time looking at the flamingos and pellicans (which we felt were worth watching!) and enjoyed this. Although we did not get to Sandwich Harbour, our trip was not cut short but lasted until 6.0 pm. A good and ample picnic lunch was provided." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 6n in South Africa

"Beach Lodge Review"

2 nights Arrived 31 Aug 2008
"Beach Lodge is situated a little out of town but it was no problem to hire a taxi to go to dinner in town and be able to have a drink without worrying about driving back. The manager at Kulala had booked us a table at his favourite restaurant (The Tug). Great for sunsets, the meal and service were good too.

From our room at the Beach Lodge we had dramatic views of the huge waves (even by the standards of the locals). A little noisy in the middle of the night but in such circumstances who cares!

We had a really good meal there on our second night.

Overall a good place to take stock after the adventures we had just had and prepare for those to come." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Beach Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 2 Aug 2008
"Had a very good 2 bedroomed apartment with kitchen/dining/braii facilities with great views over the sea. Before we arrived we did not have any information about restaurant facilities but there was an excellent restaurant where breakfast was served.

Was a good location but a short drive out of the centre of Swakopmund, this was not a problem as there was always plenty of parking available. Would recommend staying here for a number of nights to be used as a base." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia

"Beach Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 26 Jul 2008
"The location and design of this hotel is fantastic! It undersells itself in its literature, the ship design is unique and wonderful. The lawn on the beach is a little haven in a town like Swakopmund.

The rooms were excellent, and although we didn't eat here in the evening, the dining room was super, tastefully furnished, with wonderful views and if the breakfasts were anything like the evening meals then the food was also excellent. The best breakfasts we had all holiday.

Staff too were very helpful and friendly, especially in the dining room and also I appreciated the complimentary car wash - it needed it at this stage!!" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"Beach Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 10 Mar 2008
"I knew that we had a family room booked by Expert Africa as the hotel was full when they had booked so was expecting a larger room when we arrived, but the room we ended up with was amazing!!! The room at this place was absolutely fantastic, we felt like we had won the lottery. It had 2 floors, 2 fantastic bathrooms and 2 balconies, also a lovely little kitchen area. Spotlessly clean with all the extras we needed, like a kettle and bits in the kitchen.

We really enjoyed staying here because of the room and didn't want to leave. It was really nice to be so close to the beach but the downside was that it was quite far from town if you did want to go out to a retaurant to eat. Had the room not been so lovely this would have been a let down, but as it was we stayed in and cooked for ourselves!! Breakfast was also good and they even cleaned the car for me."
