Well-established and well managed Lodge

This is a much larger venue which offered walks around the grounds and is more tourist orientated.

Although everything was catered for it was more impersonal and our chalet a little 'tired'. Also a cuckoo was singing all night (both nights) and although you could hear it right through the camp nobody did anything about it.

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge review

Great accommodation, grounds, staff and food.

Really enjoyed staying here. the grounds are amazing and it was great to jump into the pool after a dusty game drive.

Food was great (buffet) and we enjoyed making up our own lunch boxes each day.

Rooms were huge and well appointed.

Fabulous setting on Coffee plantation

A beautifully located lodge in kitchen gardens with a view up to the crater escarpment. A lovely terrace for drinks. A large restaurant serving buffet food, good quality and choice. Staff entertainment, dancing and music pre dinner.

A lovely pool if there is time to use it.

Rooms spacious and comfortable with water cooler/heater (slightly annoying as noisy), terrace with glass doors.

Great bird watching on the colourful flowers and trees.

Ngorongoro farmhouse

Very nice. As always, the food was very good and there was plenty of it. It's a very nice lodge, but compared to the others, it's just not as good

Tranquil and very convenient

It is really well situated for a swift drive to the Crater and avoids all the mist that some of the lodges on the rim can experience. I really liked the very colonial feel to it with the coffee plantation and extensive and delicious vegetable garden which provides such wonderful produce.

The rooms are huge and we really appreciated the offer of a fire and hot water bottles in the bed as it was not that warm when we were there at the end of June.

The dining room and buffet was excellent and the quality of the food very high.

beautiful setting

Lovely setting for this farmhouse, gorgeous gardens. Even though they cater for a lot of guests and the lodge does have a more large hotel feel to it Elisha and his great team add a personal touch. The food, buffet style is fine ti good. Our room, Heroe had a great view and was extremely quiet. The pool is great and a real treat after three weeks nearly in the bush. But all in all it is the personal care from the staff which makes the stay here special.
We were a little bit underwhelmed by the crater...an amazing location but once you are in it the viewing is not great - so I would check the season if you are interested in seeing rhinos etc as there is very little chance in August. We saw them from up on the rim through binoculars.

Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge review

Very nice place, the jacaranda trees were in full bloom. Lunch on the lawn was splendid.

Don't particularly recommend the walk around the estate - more talk than walk.

Lovely setting, close to the crater

This was the biggest of the places we stayed and, not surprisingly, the most impersonal. However, the lush setting was very nice indeed and we valued the views, the colours and the peace very much after our safari drives. The pool was very pleasant too after a long morning in the (fantastic) dusty crater.

The buffet style meals were perfectly acceptable and the freshly-cooked-before-your-eyes stir fry which was on offer on one of our two nights was very tasty. We thought the select-your-own sandwich lunch arrangement was very efficient too.

The rooms were large with pleasant terraces. The fact that the 'bungalows' are well spread out across the grounds is both an advantage (privacy/tranquility) and a disadvantage (it means a dark walk to/from the main building). We were quite happy with this and, though we had no need of them, the cosy armchairs in front of an open fire would have been quite appealing at a different time of year!

Oh - and the post-safari massage in the spa area was lovely!

Si this is where The Garden of Eden originate

Stunning thatched building as the core of the Lodge, with very good large rooms spread around the estate.

An interesting farm to visit, too.
