"beautiful setting"

2 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2017
"Lovely setting for this farmhouse, gorgeous gardens. Even though they cater for a lot of guests and the lodge does have a more large hotel feel to it Elisha and his great team add a personal touch. The food, buffet style is fine ti good. Our room, Heroe had a great view and was extremely quiet. The pool is great and a real treat after three weeks nearly in the bush. But all in all it is the personal care from the staff which makes the stay here special.
We were a little bit underwhelmed by the crater...an amazing location but once you are in it the viewing is not great - so I would check the season if you are interested in seeing rhinos etc as there is very little chance in August. We saw them from up on the rim through binoculars." See all these reviews: 14n in Kenya; 6n in Tanzania

"Very nice place, the jacaranda trees were in full bloom. Lunch on the lawn was splendid.

Don't particularly recommend the walk around the estate - more talk than walk." See all these reviews: 7n in Tanzania

"Lovely setting, close to the crater"

2 nights Arrived 19 Aug 2014
"This was the biggest of the places we stayed and, not surprisingly, the most impersonal. However, the lush setting was very nice indeed and we valued the views, the colours and the peace very much after our safari drives. The pool was very pleasant too after a long morning in the (fantastic) dusty crater.

The buffet style meals were perfectly acceptable and the freshly-cooked-before-your-eyes stir fry which was on offer on one of our two nights was very tasty. We thought the select-your-own sandwich lunch arrangement was very efficient too.

The rooms were large with pleasant terraces. The fact that the 'bungalows' are well spread out across the grounds is both an advantage (privacy/tranquility) and a disadvantage (it means a dark walk to/from the main building). We were quite happy with this and, though we had no need of them, the cosy armchairs in front of an open fire would have been quite appealing at a different time of year!

Oh - and the post-safari massage in the spa area was lovely!" See all these reviews: 7n in Tanzania; 5n in Zanzibar

"Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 25 Jan 2012
"We found that Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge was ideally placed for arriving early for an all day visit to the crater. The rooms were very spacious, well-organised and well-equipped.

The food was good, especially the vegetables and the puddings, with lots of choice at the buffet. The situation was lovely and the gardens beautifully maintained and it was nice to be somewhere with a swimming pool.

All in all, I felt it was an excellent place to stay though it did seem a bit hectic around the reception area with so much coming and going at times." See all these reviews: 7n in Tanzania

"Safari at Ngorongoro Farmhouse Lodge"

3 nights Arrived 25 Jan 2012
"Very enjoyable 3 night stay from where we visited the Crater and Lake Manyara Park. In hindsight 1 visit either full or half day would probably have been enough in this park. Our guide told us there were hardly any predators and tree climbing lions had not been seen for some time. We drove for what seemed a very long time in order to visit a hot spring which was not very exciting.

The farmbouse was very comfortable with lovely setting and views but did not seem very "safari" like. (This is not a criticism just an observation)

I felt we were staying at a very nice place but not necessarily in Africa." See all these reviews: 7n in Tanzania

"The rooms are extremely spacious here with lovely views across the farm's land.

Great location for visiting Ngonrongoro as it really wasn't far from the gate.

The food was nicely prepared and there was a good selection each night at the buffet.

Good service from the staff." See all these reviews: 18n in Tanzania
