"Our Kenyan Adventure! "

I visited Kenya between 11 Jul 2022 and 22 Jul 2022
"We had the most amazing time!

So pleased with our choice of accommodation. Olivia (who moved on to pastures new after our trip was organised) gave thorough advice on safari camps taking into consideration our needs as a family. Thrilled with her recommendation of Kicheche Valley. We were looking at Hemingways at Watamu - a traditional beachside hotel, however wanting to be more adventurous she gently steered us towards Kinondo. So pleased she did.

Jessica became our point of contact. She was just as experienced, helpful and understanding answering questions. When BA cancelled our outbound flight she remained very calm and positive with her fretful client on the other end of the phone! All very much appreciated.

This was a trip to introduce the wonders of Africa to my husband and son. Safari was very much out of my husband’s comfort zone. Giraffe Manor had been on my bucket list for many years and we were celebrating a special wedding anniversary so he succumbed to persuasion.

It has been a life changing experience for him. He absolutely loved the whole experience of being on safari and says he left a little part of him in Kenya!

I’m thrilled that our Kenyan adventure was such a success, so many wonderful memories. We all fell in love with the country and its people.

So, if you’re reading this and thinking we’d like to go on safari but not sure if it’s for us … GO, you’ll have a wonderful time!

"My Jul 2022 trip"

I visited Kenya between 8 Jul 2022 and 20 Jul 2022
"By far the best trip I've ever been on, I couldn't have asked for more, and I'm already thinking about when I can go back! We saw so much above and beyond my expectations - river crossings, a full lion pride killing a buffalo, just to name a few - and the level of interaction and social behaviour we were able to observe within the animals was incredible. The potential downsides of the trip (early mornings, etc.) were so worth it to me, although I wouldn't recommend it to everyone I know, I thought it was perfect." "Our trip was amazing!! Beyond expectations!! "

I visited Rwanda and 1 other country between 20 Jun 2022 and 4 Jul 2022
"Our trip was amazing!! Beyond expectations!! The people we met and spent time with enhanced our trip. Isaac, who was waiting for us when we reached Nairobi. Isaac toured us around for a couple of days and was a pleasure spending time with him.

Manfred our guide at the Leopard Hill Basecamp was Excellent. He is very experienced at guiding and a pleasure to be around. We had many questions. Manfred answered them all with sincerity and patience.

Shema was with for our entire time in Rwanda. What a great man. We spent many hours driving from the most Northern Region of Rwanda to the Southern Region. We felt safe and confident with Shema behind the wheel. He was always on time. Always greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. He took care of us and we are so thankful to have met him.

Thank you to everyone involved in our trip. What an experience. Life changing!!

We hope to be back in Kenya and Rwanda soon to see our new friends again!!

"My June 2022 trip"

I visited Kenya between 15 Jun 2022 and 26 Jun 2022
"Excellent and very enjoyable.

When BA cancelled my return flight, the process of re-scheduling this with Expert Africa did not go very well in certain respects, although was ultimately sorted out to my satisfaction.

Richard Trillo has been exceptionally helpful." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 10 on a Kenya safari

"Family trip June 2022"

I visited Kenya and 1 other country between 2 Jun 2022 and 17 Jun 2022
"Our trip was excellent and a wonderful family memory with our young-adult children. The recommended lodges were excellent and we were very happy to be able to support the local communities at each site - facilitated by Expert Africa and Richard Trillo.

Logistically, the connections between cities, lodges, and airlines were flawless. This was our second trip with Expert Africa (and working with Richard Trillo), and it was more complex than our last one: international, bush, and charter flights; three sites; two countries. This trip would have been impossible for us to have pulled off on our own - especially with the two-year delay forced by the pandemic! We were very happy to have these experts on our side!

Regarding the pandemic, Rwanda had the strictest protocols at the time of our trip - requiring four tests in seven days - but our driver arranged all three in-country tests and kept tabs on our results and paperwork for us. Masks were required in all airplanes, but the COVID numbers are so much lower in Africa than in the USA that we all felt very safe in the lodge settings - venues were spacious and largely open-air. We definitely had some anxiety about passing a PCR test in order to go gorilla trekking (we'd had COVID just 45 days before), but we hoped for the best and it worked out for us (and trip insurance would have come through had it not).

I would say that while COVID introduces a "wild card" into the proceedings, the travel-related requirements were well managed for us while overseas, and, in my opinion, going on safari is far safer than going to an American movie theater!" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 7 on a Kenya safari

"My Mar 2022 trip"

I visited Kenya between 4 Mar 2022 and 16 Mar 2022
"Wow! It took lots of planning, two years of delay, zigging and zagging in a pandemic with various federal and provincial lockdowns, coordinating four people but we finally made it, and it was fantastic! Remarkably, flights were on time and the logistics went smoothly though we did have a flat tire on the way to the airport on the last day, but fortunately, the flight was late (that was nerve wracking). The people in Kenya could not have been nicer or more accommodating.

Kudos to Olivia who was responsible for the planning of the trip originally. Our goals were to experience Kenya and a bit of its culture, see lots of animals, and be active. Goals accomplished and expectations exceeded!! And thanks to Richard for his cat herding skills and organizing, then re-organizing, then tweaking yet again as Canadian travel restrictions shifted during Covid times.

With respect to Covid, since the camps are outside and contact with people is minimized, it was a safe experience. I probably saw fewer people in Kenya in two weeks that I would at the grocery store on the weekend.

"My Feb 2022 trip"

I visited Kenya between 27 Feb 2022 and 11 Mar 2022
"We have enjoyed many safaris, several with Expert Africa but also with upmarket competitors.

We were delighted with the way that Richard Trillo listened to what we wanted and then shaped a trip to meet these criteria.

We would strongly recommend booking with Richard for anyone going to Kenya." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 11 on a Kenya safari
