Great location

This was a great location for visiting Etosha, but unfortunately after Doro Nawas, the first thing that struck us was that the Staff really didn't seem very happy.

The accommodation was beautifully clean but spartan compared to the luxury we had been used to at other lodges, the main buildings were interesting and funky, it was really nice to have live music in the evenings whilst we ate.

The food was O.K., but after Doro Nawas and Sossusvlei it couldn't help but disappoint with some food cold as it had not been kept warm on the buffet.

The pool was brilliant, clean and great fun for the kids.

Whilst we were a little disappointed with Etosha Safari Camp we felt it was a much nicer place to stay than the camps we saw inside the Etosha Park itself - they didn't look at all inviting.

Relaxed and social atmosphere

We really enjoyed Etosha Safari Camp. The highlight was the courtyard area, where meals and drinks are served - it's a beautiful space and fantastic gathering area. It was really nice having live music there throughout the evening. The food was also very nice and plentiful, and served in a relaxed buffet style.

Although it is only a few kilometres from the entry to the park, the main water holes are then another 30-40 minute drive onward from the gate, so it would be a little far for multiple days, but still worth it as a very pleasant place to stay.

This boy can cook

Our first choice at this location was Taleni and we were a little disappointed when we arrived here, The rooms are a little tired and we had a bit of a flood in the bathroom but it was dealt with swiftly

After our first night here our opinion of the place had to change The food was fantastic the atmosphere and staff made sure everyone had a good time . A very different lodge to most places near Etosha but one that's worth trying if its just to meet the chef

Etosha Safari Camp review

Another little jewel. Awash with character and attention to detail.

The main lodge had so much of interest, done up as a shabeen it had so much to see. The staff were very happy and attentive. The evening meal had a wonderful atmosphere, and the live singers gave it a very unique experience.

Again another place not to be missed.

The green grass of home

Note: These guests camped at Etosha Safari Camp. Here's what they said about it:

The only NZ style camp we stayed at. Nice facilities at the bar / restaurant. Campsite almost a bit crowded but lovely to have green grass underfoot rather than dust getting everywhere.

However, our Etosha experience suggests that you should stay in the Park rest camp so that you can see the wildlife at the waterholes, and that would be my strong recommendation rather than staying outside.

Etosha Safari Camp review

First impressions were of very friendly staff here, the decor is based around a Shebeen theme with lots of old political posters and all sorts of paraphernalia from the past. The room was very comfortable, ours was close to the pool and eating area but others are spaced over the hillside.

The evening meal was buffet style with a good choice of meats and vegetables.Tables are set in a circular area and two musicians entertained us all evening.

We really enjoyed our brief stay.

Etosha Safari Camp review

This was a good value alternative to staying inside Etosha. It was conveniently located not too far from the gate.

The food was good as was the service.

Quirky character close to Etosha

Good location as a springboard for Etosha - it is a quick and easy drive into the park. The camp has a quirky character - kind of upmarket mock African township. It is comparatively big and busy with tour parties.

The rooms are huts with iron roofs which make them quite hot but they do have air-con. There is a swimming pool to cool off after a hot drive. The buffet style food was good - plenty of it and a good choice with more salad and vegetables than in some other places we stayed in.

Etosha Safari Camp review

We stayed here for 2 nights but I think 1 is enough, it is a decent place and a short drive from the Anderson Gate. The food and restaurant area is really good and a lot going on as there seems to be a lot of groups passing through. I have nothing negative to say about it, but compared to some of the places it was more practical than different.

Be careful on the roads insde the camp that lead to the chalets if you are in a saloon the bumps are very high in parts and it nearly took the bottom of the car off, so we left it in the main carpark, if you chose to do this they will help you take your bags up in a 4x4!
