Etosha Safari Camp review

Nice place, with great access to Etosha, however, there was no direct access to animals at the camp and it was a bit too touristy for our appetite.

Quirky

The "shebeen" dining/ bar area was fun and lively with live music each evening. The buffet food was plentiful with a decent range of options. Depending on what you chose some if it was good and some poor.

The room was a bit like a prison cell with virtually no veranda and the bush came right up the front door so no ability to see out. Extremely functional which had us heading immediately back to the shebeen for a glass of wine.

Etosha Safari Camp review

This was another unexpected joy - very different atmosphere. Run by impressive and friendly team .

Good mix of slick service with relaxed “traveller vibe”. Hard to pull off but they do.

We enjoyed the music in the evening.

Good for Etosha Park

Etosha Safari Camp is located just outside Andersson gate so very convenient for getting into the park.

The chalet was clean and comfortable and dinner is buffet style. The food was OK, but one dish looked very much like the rest and the staff didn't seem to know what was what. We had great service one night, but the next night there seemed to be nobody there, just one chap who didn't really want to help the guests.

The evening entertainment is a couple of guys playing guitar. The pool here is quite large and very clean - we liked it!

Etosha Safari Camp review

This is a very basic camp on the edge of a large facility that includes some more impressive lodgings, but this probably reflected in the comparative prices.

The room came with 3 single beds which was incredibly crowded. The AC was spotty at best, but the bathroom was spacious and creatively decorated.

The local band playing at the dining facility was delightful, but the dining, pool and bar area gets extremely crowded which puts a noticeable strain on the service.

Great location

This was a great location for visiting Etosha, but unfortunately after Doro Nawas, the first thing that struck us was that the Staff really didn't seem very happy.

The accommodation was beautifully clean but spartan compared to the luxury we had been used to at other lodges, the main buildings were interesting and funky, it was really nice to have live music in the evenings whilst we ate.

The food was O.K., but after Doro Nawas and Sossusvlei it couldn't help but disappoint with some food cold as it had not been kept warm on the buffet.

The pool was brilliant, clean and great fun for the kids.

Whilst we were a little disappointed with Etosha Safari Camp we felt it was a much nicer place to stay than the camps we saw inside the Etosha Park itself - they didn't look at all inviting.
