"very helpful staff

Expert Africa organised a day trip to Sandwich Harbour for these travellers. They commented:

Probably highlight of our trip; loved it! Ernest was a very informative and friendly guide, who showed us so many environmental aspects of the coastal desert - can't praise him enough." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Very easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the sea. We arrived at lunchtime and had half a day to see Swakopmund, which is just about enough. Some good restaurants to chose from but booking is advisable.

The day trip with Turnstone Tours down to Sandwich Bay was superb. It was just us with the very knowledgable guide.
I could easily have done another night in Swakopmund and taken another day-trip inland with Turnstones, or maybe kayaking etc.

NB for Cornerstones - would have liked the milk, tea and coffee replenished in the room." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Good central location. Very helpful owners.

A good place for a break in between long drives.

From Swakopmund, Expert Africa organised a day-trip to Sandwich Harbour for these travellers. They commented:

This is an excellent trip, particularly for someone keen on birds, but also for anyone interested in extraordinary scenery and wildlife.
Ernst was a very informative and friendly driver/guide. As well as the birds we saw lots of jackal and learned a lot about the issues facing the area..

Driving over the dunes was quite an experience.

A very nice lunch was provided, although it didn't quite match the sumptuous feast which I'd imagined, having read previous reviews.
Highly recommended." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Peter and Margot could not have been more helpful. The apartment on the Strand was outstanding.

We did quadbiking, sandboarding, kayaking with Cape Fur seals and shark fishing from the beach. It was fantastic fun and our children loved it. Swakopmund was amazing.

The restaurants were first class, especially the Tug. They have no concept of portion control and two standard main courses would have fed all 5 of us. It was useful to just settle for three nights before the next leg. The distances are vast and you need to pace yourselves. Thank you for your advice on this." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"This was very different to what we had experienced as there was a TV, and the guesthouse was a short walk from the beach so after all the desert landscapes it was anice change.

The staff booked all our restaurants fo us and were extremely helpful." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"We stayed in Room 1. Internet access was complimentary! Very good B&B. Recommend eating at the Tug, Grapevine or De Kelder.....but not the Lighthouse. The Turnstone Tour to Sandwich Harbour with Ernest was excellent...another highlight of our trip. Everything about the day was superb including the gourmet picnic lunch.

We were a bit disappointed with the Pleasure Flights Sossusvlei Trip as we would have liked to have spent more time in the air actually circling Sossusvlei and Deadvlei." See all these reviews: 26n in Namibia

"Cornerstone Guesthouse review"

2 nights Arrived 4 Dec 2009
"The rooms were almost too clean and white since we arrived feeling very dusty after a long drive and almost felt we daren't sit down. Help was offered with booking activities but we had arrived with our own ideas and in fact found the town museum in Swakopmund fascinating.

It was an easy walk into town and there were plenty of eating places on offer. The restaurant/museum 'Zur Kupferpfanne' was a delight, stuffed with domestic and industrial relics from Namibia's past. The presentation of the menu was remarkable although the food was not exceptional. The 'Brauhaus' offered a more typical German menu but we found the large portions served and the consequent wastage was objectionable. The whole town was very German in character.

We drove the Welwitschia drive which was very interesting with a completely different landscape but the drive itself was longer than we had anticipated and the road extremely poor." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
