"Camp Kipwe review"

2 nights Arrived 17 Nov 2016
"Camp Kipwe is an oasis in Damaraland. We loved the camp being within a mound of rocks and the rooms were beautiful.

The bar at the top for a sundowner was also a real treat. the staff were so kind and the food was lovely, particularly the breakfast. It was also nice to have free access to the kitchen and talk with the chefs.

Our trips out with Tafty were a treat. Exploring Damaraland is a an excellent experience as the landscape is so varied and discovering any wildlife in their natural setting seemed a privilege.

One note is that the 'Nature walks' are no longer free." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia

"Blessed with good guides"

1 night Arrived 10 Apr 2016
"Beautifully designed, intimate, well maintained luxury camp, an oasis in the desert among the boulders. Excellent in every way.

Especially noteworthy is our guide on the nature drive, Taffy (not sure about spelling his name). Not only knowledgeable but wonderfully passionate about the area, eloquent and a person fun to be with. Taffy shows and teaches (!) love and respect for the desert adopted Elephants and we are glad vi had the privilege to visit the Elephants with him.

There is just one little remark; When we arrived in the afternoon it was 40 deg. Celsius and not long after there was fire burning by every room. There should be another, cheaper environment friendly alternative to fire to heat the water for showers in the summer; just a black container and/or pipes with water in and the sun would do rest." "Just the most amazing accommodation"

2 nights Arrived 4 Apr 2016
"A stunning place with such original bungalows. The outdoor en suite bathrooms are amazing. The staff were very attentive and the food excellent.

We did a morning trip to see the desert elephants and managed to see a large group of about fourteen drinking at one of the waterholes as well as a separate sighting of a mother with two babies.

I also did a trip in the afternoon to see the rock engravings at Twyfelfontain which was great but very hot!

The guide Tafi was very engaging, knowledgeable and his tracking skills were superlative." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"This lodge is on the edge of desert area and the accommodation and food was fine.

The game drive with Daffy (or Taffy or Tuffy) was brilliant as he quickly tracked the desert-adapted elephants which we were able to approach very closely and seemed unfazed by our proximity, especially the the young calves." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Camp Kipwe review"

2 nights Arrived 14 Sep 2015
"Camp Kipwe was one of our favourite camps. We liked the location, hidden in a rocky outcrop.

The rooms were comfortable - not luxurious - but we loved the outdoor bathroom among the huge rocks. The viewpoint and bar on top of the rocks were perfect for watching sunsets.

In addition to doing a trip to see the desert elephants we also went to the afternoon tour to Twylfontein and the Organ Pipes, which are both worth seeing (although one can easily drive oneself there).

These travellers took a morning guided excursion to see desert-adapted elephants during their stay at Camp Kipwe. Here's what they said about it:
We really enjoyed the morning trip to see the desert elephants - we spent a lot of time watching a herd of them, including several young ones. One of the males came and welcomed us by resting his tusks on the hood of the jeep and waving his trunk!

The elephants had all been given names by the guides and were very accustomed to the vehicles, so we could get close to them without bothering them." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"A wonderful addition to Mowani"

2 nights Arrived 1 Sep 2015
"A last we managed to visit Kipwe and it was all we expected, really delightful stay. i managed to get to the sundowner summit, well worth the climb a most spectacular sunset and fantastic stars.

We also went on a trip to find the desert elephants, which was one of the highlights of the holiday, when James was kissed on his hand by a little 5 year old elephant who was being mischievous .

Just a wonderful place ." See all these reviews: 27n in Namibia
