Hoodia Desert Lodge review

Really good inventive food by the two lady chefs. Everyone very friendly. Angula is a great guide - professional and sympatico attitude.

Lovely setting - pleased we spent 4 nights there. Fabulous day at Sossusvlei - Paul climbed Big Daddy!!

Hoodia Desert Lodge review

What a place! Friendly staff, superb accommodation and facilities and a wonderful location. It was particualrly inviting to be able to walk from the door along the river or up onto the ridge.

We could easily have spent another day here just walking freely on the local hills. I didn't use the swimming pool but i might have been keener to do so if there had been a changing cubicle near the pool.

Hoodia Desert Lodge review

The serivce at Hoodia was without doubt exceptional.

We were in cabin 1 which was the last cabin in the row and very peaceful, with fabulous views. The food was excellent. We had a day out with the guide to the dunes, which included an amazing lunch out in the wilds.

Highly recommended.

Hoodia Desert Lodge review

an excellent new find for us in this region. Very well run and designed lodge with exceptionally good accommodation especially the outdoor bathroom. Brilliant hands on and helfpul manager and well trained and charming staff with few exceptions.

Dinner was a very civilised affair well presented and served at a suitable pace and at a time to suit you with well spaced and nicely laid tables. Breakfast was equally enjoyable and delicious.

Although not promoted as such there were plenty of walks to devise for yourselves along the riverbed, access drive and round a hill. It was nice to hear the night activity of the wildlife in the riverbed and admire the stars from the very well appointed patio.

Superb food in a beautiful setting

We received a very warm welcome from Thomas, the owner. The food was excellent, one of the best meals I have had for years. The staff are all very enthusiastic and accommodating and the tented bungalows very comfortable. Lovely position beside the river.

Hoodia Desert Lodge review

The rooms are comfortable and well equipped if rather dark, and there is the option of an outside bathroom, which we did not use in the chilly May nights. The food is of a high standard and the staff attentive. The location near to Sesriem is excellent for access to Soussusvlei. We'd like to highlight the helpfulness of the manager David, who was so kind when our car failed to start on the morning when we were to drive to Swakopmund.

Hoodia was a hoot

I was more than happy to stay here. The owner and staff couldn't do enough, from the cold towel and welcome drink on arrival, to making sure we always had a full glass of something to quench a thirst. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who likes privacy and an optional outside shower.

The location was perfect for visiting the dunes. If you get the chance, stay in rooms 1 or 12 - they are furthest from the lodge and very quiet.
