"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 26 Jan 2014
"We were not expected until following day; hence under-staffed a bit of a slow start...it did get better. Irritating mistake over charging on departure. Resolved but at the cost of a phone call from Swokupmund.

Excellent trip to Sossulvlei." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

"Comfortable accomodation in the wilderness"

2 nights Arrived 18 Jan 2014
"Hoodia is conveniently located for Sossusvlei in a scenic semi desert region, surrounded by craggy hills. The accommodation is as usual spacious and well appointed in individual attractive looking thatched chalets and the Lodge itself consists of a large thatched partly open Lapa where meals are served.

This was one of the few places with air conditioning (in the chalet for use mainly at night) which in fact was appreciated as this is a very warm part of Namibia! As always wifi and all mod cons provided with welcoming and helpful staff." See all these reviews: 25n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana

"What a way to end our trip"

3 nights Arrived 18 Nov 2013
"I loved the feeling of isolation as you drive off the main road towards Hoodia. You keep driving and driving until you are finally are surrounded by beautiful mtns, and in complete isolation. The chalet/rooms are spread far apart so the feeling of isolation continues. Just incredible scenery.

The rooms are gorgeous - and the outdoor shower/tub is a highlight. We were lucky enough to have 3 nights here to really enjoy it.

The common areas - restaurant; bar; outdoor terrace; pool - are all lovely.

The only minor criticism was the food which was good but not the best we have had. For example, the game was overcooked and tough." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"An Excellent Choice"

3 nights Arrived 2 Nov 2013
"This is a really lovely lodge run under the personal and attentive care of the owners. Beautifully situated in the desert, about 7km from the road. Very convenient for Sossusvlei and the dunes.

The accommodation is in individual chalets which are excellent, with indoor and outdoor bathrooms. Towels, which let down so many otherwise good places, are first-class. Public rooms are very stylish and, along with everything else at Hoodia, beautifully kept. Food is good without being outstanding and nicely presented. Dinner begins according to 'African time' where the rule of thumb is that it is 7pm whenever it is served, even if that is 7.30!

We stayed at 13 places during our month-long trip and this was one of the very best. An excellent choice and recommended." See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia

"Excellent management at Hoodia"

2 nights Arrived 16 Oct 2013
"Thomas, the owner, greeted all guests very warmly, helped serve wine at dinner, and gave us a free cool box and water for our Sossusvlei tour, and suggested which dunes to climb. All the staff were well trained and helpful .FULL MARKS!

Stunning location with mountains all around, Hoodia was ideally situated for tours to Sesriem and Sossusvlei. Charming, comfortable stone wall chalets with amazing huge outside bath & shower. A nice pool area, tho' when it's windy the parasols can blow over, but there is a lower shaded deck.

Very well run by Thomas and his wife!! Would definitely return!" See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 6n in Mozambique; 1n in South Africa

"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Sep 2013
"The lodge setting is a bit bleak, but the main building is spectacular and the "tents" are very comfortable. The food at Hoodia was the best we experienced in our 2 weeks in Namibia. The lodge owners were friendly and solicitous and had justifiable pride in their property.

We enjoyed our trip into the dunes. Angura was an excellent guide, providing lots of interesting information on the landscape and animals." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 1n in South Africa

"The best lodge that we stayed at"

2 nights Arrived 13 Sep 2013
"The chalets are very good with a private patio and chairs. Thomas, the host ensures that your stay is superb. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We are vegetarians and the meals here were the best that we had in Namibia.

Hoodia Desert Lodge's tour was fully booked but it was extremely easy to it ourselves. If you want to take the organised tour, book early!" See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
