Cornerstone Guesthouse review
This is a nice guest house quite close to the centre of town. It is quiet, with good facilities.
We were less enthused about Swakopmund, maybe because it was cold and foggy while we were there.
Pelican Point kayaking
This was an incredible experience. I have paddled with sea lion pups before, but never in these numbers. The water was boiling with all the pups swimming and jumping beside us. I had a wide grin for the entire 2 hours of paddling!
Cornerstone Guesthouse was fantastic
Perfect location near everything Robyn was who we dealt with for the most part and she was great.
She answered all my dumb questions, was always pleasant, and called various restaurants and activities for us. We only ate breakfast there which was good as were the rooms.
Would definitely return.

We were beginning to see a pattern. Expert Africa is great at choosing good places for us to spend the night.
The couple who owned and run the guesthouse couldn't have been more anxious to please.
Great food and good local advice.
Perfect base for Swakop
We couldn't recommend the Cornerstone Guesthouse highly enough.
Fantastic service - within 5 minutes of arriving we were checked in, and restaurants booked for us. They even gave us a mobile phone for the duration of our stay, programmed with contact numbers for assistance. Rooms are bright, comfortable and clean. Breakfast very good too.
Cornerstone Guesthouse review
Very efficiently run, Bettina anticipated everything we wanted including an early breakfast so that we could go kayaking.
Very helpful suggesting restaurants and making bookings.
Delightful Cornerstone Guesthouse
The guest house is ideally located in the centre of Swakopmund. It has secure parking. The hosts are excellent and provided a great breakfast.
The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. Each room has a verandah overlooking well-kept gardens, ideal for a drink before dinner.
Comfortable and convenient
Cornerstone Guesthouse was ideal as a base. The hosts were very helpful and booked our Walvis Bay trip for us. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful and the location is good for the town. It was grey and windy in Swakopmund and even rained a little. The room was small although the little porch area was good and the bathroom spacious and with v good facilities.
Worth noting that the jetty has been renovated and The Jetty restaurant is very good (at least as good as The Tug which is mentioned in all guidebooks). The Swakopmund museum is worth visiting even though it is quite old fashioned in its style. Overall, in the post-Xmas season, everywhere was very quiet.
The boat trip out from Walvis Bay was well worth taking, as aside from the seals, pelicans and cormorants that join passengers on the boat, the crew (with a woman skipper) talked knowledgeably about the Chinese investment in the port facilities and the related infrastructure. In the afternoon, using the same company (Mola Mola) we went on a land rover trip out to Sandwich Harbour, previously a large fresh water lagoon but now lost to coastal erosion. Again a very knowledgeable guide, who had lived and worked in the dunes for years, and was able to show us the insect and small mammal/reptile life, as well as the inevitable dramatic dune driving.
This is real gem of a guest house - good location, generous sized rooms with small private veranda, very helpful staff, good breakfast choice, neat small garden, good security, and free Wi-fi.
Interestingly, later on our trip we met two other parties who had also stayed at Cornerstone (and highly rated it) and another couple who were booked-in. Very popular - best to book well in advance.
A really lovely and convenient B&B.
The staff at Cornerstone were extremely helpful, they suggested restaurants for dinner and helped us to book a dune buggying activity (which was fabulous!) the next day. They also provided us with a mobile phone during our stay which was invaluable.
The B&B itself is extremely comfortable and in a very central location, breakfast was good and it was a very convenient place to stay in Swakopmund before the next leg of our journey.
This is not a reflection of the B&B itself, but I would not recommend staying in Swakopmund for more than a day/night unless you have specific activities arranged. We didn't find much to do in the town itself, and didn't find it particularly pleasant to wander around.
