"Roho ya Selous review"
After Ruaha where it was dry season, Nyerere was a nice contrast being the rainy season where everything was green with plenty of cubs and pups around that time. The safari started already as soon as we were picked up at the airport.
The rooms are traditional tents which we loved and just hoping Asilia will keep a balance between their camps of traditional tents and rooms. The tents had a stunning view on a river, very comfortable and besides the indoor bathroom there was also an outside shower. We had the elephants one night just in front of our room with the next night hippos.
Nyerere is beautiful. Just a shame that on the main road leading to the different camps there are so many plastic bottles. This road leads to where a dam is being built and plastic are thrown away I assume by the builders. We would have expected the safari guides from different compagnies picking up those bottles like the guides are doing in Kenya but that wasn’t the case here. Someone has to start somewhere and to see this plastic against this stunning nature was a bit of a spoiler.
Luckily once we left the main road, it is stunning nature without any plastic. Nyerere has the advantage that you can do water safaris and this was a real treat by Asilia to see the hippos & crocs in the water from a different angle." See all these reviews: 14n in Tanzania

The chef is amazing and the soups, main course and dessert are incredibly tasty and elegantly presented. The bush breakfasts are a feast!
Although there seemed to be less wildlife than visits in the area two previous years, the scenery is stunning and there is still a wonderful experience sighting many species." See all these reviews: 14n in Tanzania

"Roho ya Selous review"
Our guides, Felix and Levian, were outstanding and made our game drives exciting, fun, and informative.
Our tents were fantastic--incredibly spacious and comfortable. And, the air conditioning system around the bed was genius.
I don't know how the thing works, but it worked wonders as it was quite warm." See all these reviews: 13n in Tanzania

Felix was a very skilful guide, we saw every animal we could imagine. There were magnificent sunsets and a nice pool to cool down in the afternoon. One morning on our way from our tent to the main area we encountered an elephant. He of course was just eating and didnt mind us walking by. At night we once woke to see the huge silhouettes of three elephants eating one meter from our tent! Later that night the same happened with a giraffe..
In anticipation of the rains almost all the animals had babies. Small playful lions, hippos, elephants and all the other animals were abundant. Only thing is to select the nicest pictures when you are at home!" See all these reviews: 7n in Tanzania; 6n in Zanzibar

"A class bushcamp in the Selous"
There are a couple of small things that they could maybe change - more choice on dinner menu? - reorganize the morning coffee routine ? but really this is nitpicking and overall the camp works to a very high standard for the benefit of their guests" See all these reviews: 7n in Tanzania

"A real gem in the middle of the reserve"
The food at this camp was superb. Every lunchtime and evening, we had a varied, well prepared and tasty meal. Breakfasts out on safari were magical....as were the sundowners. I felt that there was nothing that the staff wouldn't do to make our stay as memorable as possible. Our guide Penuel, was experienced, knowledgeable and again, wanted us to have the best experience from our safari. It was lovely to arrive back at camp to be met by smiling staff with cool flannels, who seemed genuinely interested in what we had seen on our game drives. I would thoroughly recommend this camp." See all these reviews: 10n in Tanzania; 2n in Zanzibar
"Palatial tents in the bush!"
We shared our drive transport with another couple who we didn’t know which worked very well as we gelled together from the start: we all arrived on the same plane and discovered we lived 5 miles away from each other in Sussex - bizarre!
Accommodation at the camp was extremely good and set a balance between luxury and minimalist. A real plus was the privacy afforded each tent as you could not hear your neighbour or see their accommodation. The netting side of the accommodation which is the view from the bed was wonderful in that one awoke to dawn and the sounds of nature only inches away. Nighttime was interesting as one can hear the animals moving quite close and you don’t know what or where they are! Hippos ambled quite close by as evidenced by the tracks and dung.
The food was good and neatly presented. The staff were very nice and attentive throughout. Amissy and Robert were always on hand to provide any refreshments and ensured that there was always someone on hand to help or serve you. The game drives were fun and thorough in searching out the animals. Emmanuel was a super guide and nothing was too much trouble (10/10 for him). We stayed 3 days and 4 nights. However as you effectively do a game drive inbound and outbound to the airstrip we felt that we had 5 days of safaris. We completed a short walking safari and fishing boat trip which were both worthwhile. Sundowners were hard to beat and the views coupled with a G&T were literally intoxicating!
Overall we had absolutely no complaints about our experience at Roho ya Selous. It is quite a while since I have ever stated that about a location!" See all these reviews: 6n in Tanzania; 4n in Zanzibar
