"Okaukuejo Camp review"
Our accommodation was good, service was fine although not comparable to the private lodges. However the location and accessibility to the park more than makes up for that. We saw so many Incredible things - the waterhole was constantly changing and we were rarely troubled by noise. Even at lunchtime you could find 20 elephants enjoying a drink.
We had no hassle with service having been forewarned by expertafrica about things such as key deposit. Would not hesitate to visit again" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
"Have the right expectations!"
The family chalet was very spacious and clean, and distant enough from the other chalets to guarantee privacy.
The restaurant is buffet style, not to compare with what you get at private camps or at Dolomite, but if you don't expect this the food is alright. Service was good and friendly!
Maybe we had too much expectations on the waterhole on the other hand, because this was a slight disappointment! We saw black rhino hanging around the whole evening but except for some impala and zebra not that much more! It's all about the expectations!" See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Moonlit rhinoceros"
The floodlit waterhole had a variety of animals each tIme we visited- evening was better than morning. We saw elephants, rhino, giraffes, jackels and various antelopes., The whole complex is quite large and holds 100s, but it is set out well and doesn't feel overcrowded. There are useful facilities like a post office, shop etc. Also a large washing machine and drier available in the camping area. Buffet food was good but not so great for vegetarians- like most of Namibia." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 2n in Zambia
"Go for the animals not the food"
However to have a chalet v. close to the excellent water-hole is well worth the trip. Also the overall "animal" experiences in the park are excellent." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
"Okaukuejo Camp review"
We had two fabulous evenings at the waterhole and saw a herd of 40 elephants, 11 giraffes, 7 rhinos, lots of springbok etc. Would recommend staying here because the waterhole is such an attraction for animals at this time of year in the dry season." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

The nocturnal expeditions aboard a truck with driver/guide would have been more enjoyable had we been able to dress more warmly. We were wearing long johns, pakas, warm clothing we are used to wearing in the southern regions of N.Z. but this was not enough. The cloaks provided should be wind proof. We froze. We also suffered from distended bladders!! The trip was after the evening meal and lasted 3 hours. When we returned to the resort everyone raced to the toilets.
What we saw on this trip was indeed memorable." See all these reviews: 5n in Namibia
"Okaukuejo Camp review"
The waterhole is the best one in Etosha with a continuous stream of animals and birds coming to drink, day and night...take a cool drink yourself (in a glass, not with the animals!) and watch the sunset. We stayed 2 days and any less would be a pity, 3 would be best, particularly if you are a photographer.
If you have to choose which of the 3 Etosha government restcamps to stay at, then this was our best experience of the 3." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

The waterside chalets with upstairs balconies looked much nicer (from the outside anyway!).
There was a good shower but no screen meant the floor flooded. There was no safe.
Lunch was poor but the buffet supper was surprisingly good. The swimming pools looked nice.
The waterhole is the only reason to stay here - we saw giraffe, elephants and six rhino after dark. However, it feels rather staged (there are about 100 people watching at any one time) and unreal and we preferred wildlife-watching in the (in comparison deserted) western part of Etosha. Not many visitors to Etosha appear to realise that the western part of Etosha is now open to tourists (not just guided tours).
We took the early morning guided game drive which was a complete waste of time and money. We think we would have seen more driving ourselves and the guide was uninspiring." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Better than expected"
The buildings in the camp are well spaced out and it never felt crowded. Eating is cafeteria-style, with a good choice of salads and soup for dinner, two choices of grilled meat with vegetables, followed by a selection of fruit salad, sorbet, or fruit fritters. Not fine dining, but not bad either, and with no problem to pay by credit card. We did make a point of getting to both breakfast and dinner before 7 o'clock, however, after which the queues got a bit longer.
It was convenient to have a post office and general store on site - but be warned, the queues at the store before closing time get very long as campers stock up on beer for their barbecues !
Check-in and check-out were quick and trouble free as far as we were concerned." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
