Beach Lodge is located about 5km north of Swakopmund town centre, directly overlooking the beach. It's distinctive and quirky design makes it stand out from the other buildings in the area – it is built in the shape of a boat and has a nautical theme.

Beach Lodge has 19 rooms that form part of a boat-shaped building.
All rooms are equipped with a telephone, TV and coffee/tea station, safe, and wifi in the rooms is available for a small charge. Most of the rooms have a small fridge, roof fans and others have fireplaces for those cold evenings - those without fireplaces are equipped with heaters. All of the rooms at beach lodge have en-suite bathrooms with showers, his and hers sinks, and hairdryers. Every room has either a private patio or balcony accessed by large sliding glass doors, and so the rooms here are bright and airy and offer lovely sea views.

There are 13 standard rooms at Beach Lodge. These are clean and functional, but somewhat sparsely decorated. The nautical theme continues through some of the rooms with circular, port-hole windows, and many are decorated with photos of beaches or sea views.

Beach Lodge’s 6 luxury rooms are stylish and modern, decorated in muted and neutral tones. With all of the same amenities as the standard rooms, they also have desks and are much larger. The en-suite bathrooms are spacious and bright, some with baths as well as showers, with thoughtful touches such as candles next to the bath.

Beach Lodge's central facilities are made up of a small lounge in the reception area that also has internet access. Outside there is a grassy area with deck chairs, providing space to relax and sunbathe if you are lucky enough to have a sunny day during your time in the often misty Swakopmund! Upstairs is a large, bright dining room where breakfast is normally served. The room has a nautical theme with large porthole windows, giving excellent views of the coast. At lunchtime and in the evenings this dining room becomes the “The Wreck" restaurant where guest can have a really classy dinner without having to travel into town. On our last visit, in June 2014, we found this restaurant to be serving excellent seafood, steaks and delicious deserts. There's also a children's menu. The restaurant is highly recommended even if you are not staying at Beach Lodge – although if you’d like to enjoy the views from the restaurant then we would advise a lunchtime visit, by dinnertime it will be dark and so you would miss the views!

Our view

Beach Lodge is quiet and relaxed and could be the right place for you if you want a very private base. It offers good accommodation, great food and has a fantastic location right on the beach. However, some may prefer to stay somewhere more central in Swakopmund, as Beach Lodge is about a fifteen-minute drive from town.
