Activities at North Island
Boating
Explorer the river system by boat. Subject to water levels but year-round in good rainfall periods.
Catch and release fishing
A fabulous activity for families with kids. We’re all about catch and release so ask your safari guide to hook you up with a couple of rods. Your experienced guide will pole you amongst the lily pads and weaving sandbanks, showing you the ebb and flow of this incredible eco-system.
Fishing is possible between 01 March and 31 December, subject to water levels. No fishing is permitted in January and February due to breeding season.
Game drives
You’ll find yourself in the thick of it! Home to all the stars of the animal kingdom, from big cats, to buffalo, antelope and aardvark. Morning and afternoon game drives.
Mokoro Trips
A mokoro trip immediately slows the pace down and allows you to gently cruise through the water channels amongst the lily pads. Please note that these activities are water level dependent.
Scenic Helicopter Flights
Fly over the vast landscape by helicopter to give a much broader perspective of the Delta. (This incurs an additional cost.)
Spend time with one of our conservation partners, to see first-hand how we are making a difference to wildlife conservation in the area.
Head out by heli on a community visit to meet with some of our community based outreach partners in the nearby villages. You’ll also spend time with one of our conservation partners to see first hand how together we are able to make a difference to wildlife conservation in the area (at an additional cost).
Tsodilo Hills Cultural Trip (Additional costs apply)
Experience a trip to Tsodilo Hills, a World Heritage Site in the
Northern Okavango Delta. The hills are home to more than 4,000
San Bushman paintings – probably the most important rock art in
Africa! Several walking trails provide helpful routes around the
painting sites. (Access only by helicopter)
