"Dunia Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 4 Jun 2012
"We absolutely loved Dunia! This was our favourite place of the whole trip. The location is magical, truly in the middle of the bush, and we could hear the wildebeest migration and the hyenas from our tent at night. Richard, Peter and the entire team at Dunia created a wonderful atmosphere and really made us feel part of "Dunia family", especially in the evenings when everyone meets around the fireplace outside to admire the African night skies and exchange highlights of the day's game drives. The service is outstanding with the hot "bucket showers" a particular highlight, the food is excellent, the tent very comfortable and the landscapes around the camp very beautiful.
But it is Patena, our guide, and his trainee, Hamza, who really made our stay unforgettable with a series of superb game drives - we have been on a number of trips and game drives in southern Africa but the quantity of game we saw around Dunia and the quality of the sightings were unrivaled. The first day Patena asked us what we would particularly like to see and when we said we had not seen a leopard yet he found us three leopards that same day! Other highlights included a cheetah with her cub and a close encounter with a stretching male lion. Patena and Hamza also taught us a lot about the different animals, their behaviour and social structure.
Dunia is a real gem and we would highly recommend a stay there to everyone visiting Tanzania." See all these reviews: 6n in Tanzania

"WOW. Best stop of the trip in terms of camp. Unforgettable experience. Peter Ijajara the camp Manager was EXCEPTIONAL as was his back-up crew. A fantasy stop to be sure....

At this point it was clear that ASILIA came across as an impressive operator. Of particular mention is Fazo Mtoro our guide until this location who was EXCEPTIONAL on all LEVELS. He made a VERY BIG difference to the whole experience. Cannot recommend him enough." See all these reviews: 8n in Tanzania

"Dunia Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 9 Sep 2011
"Dunia Camp is a wonderful experience. Although looking like its back to basics, nothing can be further from the truth.

The staff were extremely efficient even managing to bring hot water for your gravity shower exactly at the time you requested. They even managed to serve us ice cream in the middle of the day. The food was marvellous even more so considering its location and not being a permanent camp.

Here we had a Dunia camp driver / guide to ourselves. He was very knowledgeable and was even able to find a Black Rhino for us." See all these reviews: 10n in Tanzania

"Great comfort in the depths of the Serengeti"

2 nights Arrived 10 Aug 2011
"Dunia Camp is situated on a slope in an interesting area of the southern Serengeti. Sunrise views are stunning. We had excellent game drives all around the area of the camp, including amorous lions down by the river.

Our experience at the camp was made by the manager Peter and his smiling, helpful staff. The food was of a high quality, remarkable considering the distance it had travelled. The evening camp fire was welcome in the chilly evenings of August and the communal dining table was friendly. The tents are very spacious and comfortable and the delivery of hot water, morning and evening, very prompt.

The night before our arrival the staff and guests had had a disturbed night caused by a lion making a kill in the camp. All was quiet while we were there apart from the grazing animals snuffling outside the tents." See all these reviews: 14n in Tanzania

"Wonderful location ,poor facilities"

2 nights Arrived 9 Jul 2011
"A wonderful location with an extensive vista across the surrounding countryside which teemed with a wide variety of animals and birds.

The crowds and traffic jams of the central Serengeti were left behind enabling us to enjoy the solitude of the wilderness with the help of a knowledgeable and helpful guide.

Unfortunately the experience was marred by poor bathroom facilities and a camp vehicle which was unsuited to comfortable game viewing" See all these reviews: 11n in Tanzania

"A camp with no boundaries"

2 nights Arrived 8 Jul 2011
"The service, food and standard of the tents was excellent.

The camp manager was very good in ensuring that he knew everything you wanted to do and then made sure that you could do everything.

The Dunia Camp safari guide, Thompson, was good on birds but not experienced enough (as had been our Asilia driver guifde, Vincent Matari) to ensure that we had a fulfilling day in terms of the animals we saw." See all these reviews: 13n in Tanzania; 4n in Rwanda
