Hilltop Guesthouse - perfect first night stop

Easy to find and well located on-top of a hill in a lovely part of Windhoek.

A perfect stop for a first night in Namibia as is reachable in less than an hour from the airport - and very little traffic encountered.

Good parking and secure. Felt very comfortable and safe. Easy to reach nearby restaurants e.g. Joe's Beerhouse.

Lovely, lovely rooms - very large and comfortable.

Great breakfast served on the terrace in the sunshine overlooking Windhoek.

Only regret is not staying two nights and using this as a base to see more of Windhoek...

Hilltop Guesthouse review

Glad we ended up at villa violet on way out - we thought it was better, hiltop is noisier with traffic nearby, two of our party had to endure cold showers in the morning we left as hot water rN out and there were no hair dryers in room / poor for the capital when they had often been provided rurally ) and unnecessarily for rural

Locations! Food was good though and host. Pleasant

Hilltop Guesthouse review

Excellent

At the start of the trip we had stayed at the Hilltop Guest House in Windhoek. This took some finding and I was grateful I had bought a map map of Windhoek to help us do this.

Once we were there we were very well cared for and the owner gave us the good advice to dine at the Social. We had an excellent meal there.

Also we were grateful we did not have to drive far that first day since we had not slept much on the overnight flight from London.

We stocked up on lunch type food and water at the Eros Centre below the Guest House before leaving Windhoek next morning.

Hilltop Guesthouse review

This was nice comfortable guest house.

The staff were very nice and the owner gave us some helpful information but was not around at check in and we felt that it would have been nice that the owner greeted us. I believe the owner lived offsite and this felt like it was the case. Breakfast served on the deck was very pleasant. Location was in a nice area of Windhoek but required a car.

All in all a fair place to spend our first night.

Hilltop Guesthouse review

Excellent accommodation with a very comfortable mattress which was most welcome after the long flight from London. There was an onsite guard keeping an eye on the entrance to the property and the cars in the driveway. For me the best was the location which was a short walk downhill to Joes Beerhouse where we had a most memorable dinner. The coffee machine in the room was also a winner.

The owner came out in the morning to speak to us and we appreciated the personal touch. He advised us to buy a cooler box and told us that ice would be available at all service stations so we could keep our lunch drinks/provisions cool. This turned out to be a great suggestion and worked well for us.

As we had a double cab vehicle with a canopy, he also recommended that when driving we should keep the canopy windows slightly open to avoid the pressure building up in the back of the vehicle and excessive dust being sucked in. In truth the dust was so bad it was only the bin bags that saved our suitcases from certain death!
