Warm welcome at Haus Sonneneck

We stayed here for one night before starting our Namibia trip and then returned for one night at the end prior to departing the next day for the UK.

The accommodation was clean and beds comfortable. Sadly right outside our accommodation which backed onto our garden building work was in progress which started early in the morning and finished late at night. The owner did explain to us that she had complained on numerous occasions regarding this but sadly came up against a brick wall. However if you had a different room I don't think this would effect you.

Breakfast was good, you do have to go out into town for your evening meal which was safe and no problem.

Haus Sonneneck review

We were very pleased to be allowed to check in very early, allowing us to leave our luggage and do a little shopping in Windhoek.

From a personal perspective, we would have been better to have slightly changed our arrival and departure day as both of our days in Windhoek were Sundays and pretty much everything was shut by lunch time.

Pleasant and friendly B&B

A perfectly adequate B&B. The hostess was friendly. Sensibly priced mini-bar. Each room has a private outdoor seating area with table and chairs and the garden is very attractive.

Only a short distance from Joes' Beerhouse for a good dinner at each end of our holiday. We drove ourselves on the first occasion but walked there in daylight and got a taxi back the second time. The staff at the Beerhouse arranged a taxi and saw us into it, ensuring that the cab was genuine.

Very welcoming, comfortable start to trip

Everything provided as described. Drought precluded use pool - but not their fault.

Arranged an excellent city guide for us (Herr Klaus Otto)

This location was more like a dorm room

The room was like a dorm room. The owner was rude and unhelpful.

I'd tell anyone to avoid this place.

B & B Windhoek

Welcoming hostess, comfortable room, but personally didn't like the pillows!
Tasty breakfast.

we went to Joe's Beerhouse for supper - by taxi as advised not to walk around after dark. Great place - very quirky!

Haus Sonneneck was a bit out of the way but as we were only there one night and didn't go sight seeing it didn't really matter for us.

Haus Sonneneck review

We felt sorry for the owners as the next door property had jack hammers working on building site all day long, even on Saturday.

Basic rooms, hard bed. Meagre breakfast. Kind woman who booked our dinner for us. Good secure parking.

Adequate room but skinny breakfast

Room was adequate though rather functional. Coffee machine didn't work and nor did the replacement kettle - didn't seem like the equipment was checked. Took the owner ages to find something that worked, though she did eventually.

The breakfast was really mean - tiny glass for diluted fruit juice and the fruit consisted of a plate with (literally) one slither of apple, one grape halved, a segment of orange and a small slice of melon artfully arranged on a big white plate. Limited options for cooked breakfast - one lady asked for an omelette and was told she could have one. Not a place I would return to if other options available, though it was clean.

Did not match up anywhere near to Swakop b+b or Cornerstone, where we stayed 2 years ago. Lacked generosity.
