"Crocodile Bushcamp review"
We were sorry never to have visited Crocodile camp, the site of which we passed just as we approached its successor, Big Lagoon. But the new location is absolutely stunning, looking out as it does onto the lagoon with a wonderful sitenji bar area complete with magnificent deck, and we could definitely see how - certainly as the season progressed - one could almost make a day of sitting there watching the comings and goings.
Clever use is made of the existing infrastructure from the camp previously on this spot, and the floor of our chalet had recently been upgraded but there is nevertheless still an intimate bush camp vibe which we loved. And we very much enjoyed walking on from Chikoko with Stephen, the wonderful guide we had previously met at Mwaleshi in 2019." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
"Crocodile Bushcamp review"
We had arranged in advance to walk from Big Lagoon direct to Mwamba as mentioned in the information on the Expert Africa website. We are grateful to Nick at Tafika for managing the logistics of this. Our excellent guide, tracker and tea carrier were all enthusiastic about this; none had done this walk previously so this was an adventure for each of them too. It was about 12.5km. We were lucky to get an excellent sighting for several minutes of a honey badger on this walk." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia
"Walking safari from Crocodile Camp"
The walks we conducted from the camp were both varied and very informative as well as being exciting. We were very impressed with our guide, who looked after our every need, together with our ranger who was extremely experienced, and also our assistant guide who followed along in the rear, and who was also very knowledgeable. We saw a wide range of animals but also learnt a lot about their habits, their environment, the trees, the insects, the birds etc" See all these reviews: 5n in Zambia

"Great walks at Crocodile Bushcamp"
Crocodile Bushcamp has its own little watering hole and we could watch plenty of impalas, pukus, warthogs and baboons while relaxing, even one elephant payed a visit. One evening we even saw a big pride of lionesses on the bank of the river. It was very impressive!" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia; 6n in Malawi
"Peaceful bush camp"
We enjoyed the walk to the camp, with guide Stephen and plenty of wildlife sightings(elephants, buffalo, impala, zebra, puku, baboons) and some interesting tracks (lion, hyena, civet , genet). We actually reached the camp mid-morning, after a half- hour tea break en route, so we would have been happy to have spent longer getting there, perhaps by being able to spend time waiting and watching the behaviour of the family of elephants we passed for example.
Other walks from the camp were similarly interesting, and the more local wildlife also. There was a hyena at the camp after dinner, and a little house snake under the table after lunch the next day. Moffat was our very cheerful and competent guide at Crocodile and Chikoko - we really enjoyed the quiet away-from-it-all nature of these walking camps." See all these reviews: 19n in Zambia

"Crocodile Bushcamp"
We had the same guide (Moffit) and scout (Amon) as at Chikoko, and that meant we were able to build up our knowledge as they knew what they had already told us. Tea making on the morning walk was in the hands of Kabula, who made the fire to boil the kettle without matches.
Because we travelled in late June/ early July it was harder to see wildlife - plenty of long grass to hide in, more food available for the carnivores and less need to reach the Luangwa to drink. But it was cooler for walking, there was plenty to see and our guide told us about plants and trees as well as animals.
There are lots of birds to see - eg fish eagle, heron, egret, crane, bee-eater, love birds, vulture, stork and many more.
Walking across oxbow lakes that have dried up can be a bit challenging as you have to avoid the holes left by elephant and hippo feet in the (now set hard) mud." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia; 3n in Malawi; 1n in South Africa
