"Robin Pope Safaris Mobile Safari Camp review"
"Robin Pope Safaris Mobile Safari Camp review"
The staff organised fishing trips during siesta for the keen fishermen in the group and surprised me completely by celebrating my birthday (which I thought I’d kept a well guarded secret) with a serenade and a chocolate cake with candles specially baked by Alfred.
We were so well looked after." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

"Robin Pope Mobile walking safari"
Wake up at 5 as the water basin outside your tent was filled with warm water - breakfast (toast, porridge, fruit, cereal, coffee/tea) was served 5:15-6 and then off on a morning walk, usually 4-5 hours and 6-8 miles. Not strenuous but certainly uneven footing. Mostly single file behind the Ranger with his gun - Louis, guide - Jason, the 6 of us and Geoffrey, the teabearing bringing up the rear. It was amazingly different from the game drives - much more tracking, listening, smelling and watching from afar.
After delicious lunch, we would take a cool off dip in the Mupamadzi river before siesta. Tea t 3:30 then off on another walk at 4 for a few more miles before being met by the camp team, who set up sundowners with drinks and chairs, then drove us back to camp. Dinner at 8 was incredible, given the primitive cooking/kitchen facilities. We stayed at 3 different camp sites, saw leopards 3 times, snuck across the river to see some wild dogs, followed and found lions resting, had starring contests with water buffalo, startling warthogs and piglets out of their den and being very cautious around elephants that we stumbled upon. Plus all kinds of birds - owls, hawks, eagles, rollers, too numerous to recall! It was an incredible experience!
Advice: bring shirts that are army green/brown/grey - most of us had brought very light colored clothing which sticks out like a bleached white animal skull out in the bush! Guide and host lent me more appropriately colored shirts so I blended in a bit better!" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia

The whole camp worked so slickly and one could tell it was a real 'team;. The only comment I would say is that our host was not very good - he did the job alright but needed prompting a few times from Kanga on things and seemed to want to talk about himself all the time!
We were with a lovely group so it didn't matter" See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

"A Walk on the Wild Side"
It's a magical way to experience the park, learning about its smallest inhabitants like termites and ant lions and praying mantis. (could have done without the tsetse flies though) and its largest. We tracked lions and skirted respectfully round elephants and buffalo and were briefly experts on dung and tracks.
The team back at camp hosted by ever-hospitable Michael looked after our every need. I look forward to next time." See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia

"Robin Pope Safaris walking safari review"
It was made for me for two reasons. Our guide Kanga was the most delightful, knowledgeable person one could hope to spend time with. He made us feel safe but at the same time as if we were on a big adventure, which we were. He was truly respectful of the animals - 'let's let him be now', he would say, and also of us visitors. It felt as if he was enjoying the week as much as we did, and her went out of his way to listen, and he planned the days down to the last detail, to suit all of us. We all, new to safaris or not, learnt an incredible amount as he could tailor his answers to each one of us, and gave way beyond the call of duty.
The other excellent thing was the walking safari in itself, being a part of the landscape and noot just a spectator. And the walks were exactly the right length - everythng went like clockwork. I would do the same trip again, and will ! All the other staff were great too." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

Good facilities despite them being bush camps and the staff did a great job of looking after us. Shannon was a very kind and friendly host and we enjoyed her company ( and that of all staff at the camp). The cook (Alfred) was outstanding given the basic cooking facilities t and all meals were excellent with very good service.
Absolutely outstanding guiding by Kanga who had a wonderful depth & breadth of knowledge which he conveyed with real passion and enthusiasm. Also well aided by Joffrey the trainee guide and the scout Isaiah. Good to see lions whilst walking, mating pair of lions and lots of other great sightings.
All in all a very good mobile safari, the only issue is that the area is quite a drive from the main part of the park and the other lodges, 5 hours. So quite a trek to get there and back which some people may well feel is quite a lot of time out of the day spent getting there and the day when going onto the next lodge. But you can check out the wildlife as you are travelling to/from the camps. The Tse-tse flies were annoying at times on the journeys on the first and last day but there is not much can be done about this given the location of the camps." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
"Walking at Mupamadzi"
The camps were brilliantly organised and nothing was too much trouble. Alfred and the team produced wonderful food. Shanon and the other staff worked tirelessly to dismantle camp and re-erect it at the next site (3 in all) ready for lunch after our morning walk. The evning walk and sundowners were magical and there was always hot water ready for showers before supper.
The guiding (from Kanga, with Yona as scout) was execellent and we learned a great deal about lots of little things - from animal dung to the nesting habits of a praying mantis. Game sightings were also very good, although the animals here are less used to vehicles than near the Luangwa.
All in all, a wonderful safari." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia
